Comments Thread For: Golden Boy Has Peterson Options if He Upsets Ortiz

This is standard practice for promoters giving a dangerous free agent opponent a shot at one of their top fighters.
I thought Peterson would be a problem, but after rewatching the Bradley and Blaine fights, Ortiz will win going away.
Peterson is an inside fighter that can make Ortiz uncomfortable, but although he's tough, he doesn't have that good a chin, doesn't have much pop, or that good a defense. Ortiz has one of the best offenses in boxing and a solid defense.
What happens when Peterson goes to pressure and fight on the inside against someone with the speed, power, and combinations of Ortiz. We'll see on Saturday... Lamont is lucky Victor doesn't have Rios' output or it'd be a repeat of his brothers' fight. It might save him from getting stopped.Comment

that's not a sign of no confidence. that's an attempt to level the playing field.
forcing an opponent to sign a contract with option in the future is a sign of no confidence.Comment

Most of these morons never even watched Peterson before, until the Bradley fight. I got Peterson winning this by clearly outboxing Ortiz.Comment

catchweights are for making fights between two guys from disparate weight divisions a chance to fight.
