    Cotto-Martinez Failure

This would have been a good $ producing fight in which I wouldn't completely count Cotto out because:
    1) Cotto is comfortable in the 154 weight class
    2) He is a good technical fighter and could also counterpunch
    3) He has heart and is a proven warrior with plenty of experience
    4) And last but not least Manny Steward in his corner makes a hell of a difference.
Cotto would have so much to win and nothing to los
But Arum preffers to put him on a rematch with torn-up Margarito who this time around will not be able to put plaster in his gloves. With all of these aforementioned factors against him (Margarito) I have no doubt whatsoever that this time around Cotto will definitely send him back straight to the hospital and well deserved retirement. After this happens the best thing for Cotto would be to fight with Sergio Martinez instead of a rematch with Pacquiao. Selfish Arum has already offered Cotto a rematch with Pacquiao and I bet ya he together with Roach will be the first ones to demand a weight limit or catch weight that favors Pacquiao just like they did on their previous fight. Mr. Arum does not care for Cotto's health and/or legacy. Cotto do not surrender to their demand!!! Cotto's advisers should step in and advocate for him!! Manny(Steward) appart from your interest in Cotto facing JCC,Jr. you have otherwise remained pretty silent. Mr. Steward, I have all the respect in the world for you but if it were possible please break your silence and say something on behalf of Cotto and advice him well. I have more trust in you than in most of the current promoters and boxing analysts. Also if I am so "off" in my humble analysis please let me know.
    With much respect, JLGR58

Arum is denying the oppotunity that other promoters granted him early in his career
arum don't owe them anything. this isn't welfare.

You cant turn a guy like Martinez into a Cotto-type draw after only what 9 months of success at the top level and like 12 years of fighting nothing but bums
king turned a crude rude mayorga from nothing to something. now that's a real promoter.

I just dont understand how you can support more money in Arums pockets then have the bigger fights

                How fast?

Sergio has only become known in the last 8 months since his win over Pavlik

Hard to sell a guys who drew with Cintron and lost to Williams 2 fights in a row

does martinez deserve 50/50... sure, he's the MW champ. but cotto and arum aren't gonna deal unless they get paid. martinez is a huge risk. huge risk meaning cotto probably loses.

if i'm martinez, i take the 2.5 mill, whup cotto's ass, and use cotto as a stepping stone to increase my market value.
Yeah i agree they know that. They asked for the smaller share of the pie in a split and cotto and arum offerred them a flat fee. Ok lou took the low offer for such a high profile fight and asked for a bigger but a flat fee like they asked and arum just shut them down. And did not negotiate. They just dont want the fight. But if martinez takes the first offer it will just happen over and over again bc he will still wont have a fan base like cotto. I would bet if martinez took the deal and would keep on winning and martinez would end up in this same situation with out any good opponents to fight he would fight another of arums cash cows jcc jr. Arum would do the same thing to him give him a flat fee bc jr is the draw thats why he needs to stand up.

                      martinez/cotto isn't a big fight. it's a mismatch. cotto gets murked.
