Does wlad now possess a tyson type aura?

This is probably true. Also, Don King knows how to market a fighter the right way.I this Wlad and Tyson are both tremendous fights but they are very very different.
People feared Tyson for sure, he was intimidating as a personality as well as a fighter. People were afraid of his viciousness but I think alot of people didnt avoid him because they thought they could handle him by boxing him and keeping him at distance with the jab, ala Lennox. Only in his prime that was impossible to do because of his incredible defense. His defense was what set up his offense and was highly underrated.
Wlad on the other hand... people know they really only have a punchers chance and they are going to take 9-12 rounds of a savage beating. People are afraid of this.
Ask yourself... would you rather be knocked out in one or 2 rounds Tyson-style, or be savagely pulverised by a battering ram jab for 10 and THEN knocked out Wlad-style?
Most would go for option 1 and thats why Wlad is being avoided. Fighting Wlad (or Vitali) means a long sustained battering that will reduce your punch resistance for the rest of your career.Comment

lol at this thread, wlad is a decent heavy at best, got taken out in his prime by 3 average heavies and ran off without rematching them
what a joke of a threadComment

I'll be in a better place to answer this once he fights haye. If haye crumbles i will say yes.I know you'll all laugh at me. But i think wlad has developed a tyson type aura that makes him beat his opponents before they have even stepped in the ring. its an obvious gamplan that will beat him and he cant take a punch so why cant no one beat him?
I think he has them beat before they even get in the ring, they see how big he is and how well he fights his type of fight and have no answer for it.
I've yet to see a fighter get in the ring and go hell for leather against wlad, they come in calm and get pikced and jabbed apart for 10 rounds then get ko'd.Comment

People need to understand something about the word ''prime'' when it comes to fighters. It has two fits.
1 - The years your body has at optimal athletic performance. That's your early 20's to early 30's basically.
And
2 - Prime as in, when you were ''at your best''. This one has no bearing on age much and has everything to do with your actual performances not just projected performance because of athletic youth.
Mike Tyson was "at his best" only for a few years despite being in his ''athletic prime'' during most of his downfall. He already lost a majority of his defensive and combination punching discipline by 1990 for goodness sakes and threatened to quit on his camp if Team Tyson made him run. WTF? You all think this was the same fighter that Cus trained saying that? A Tyson that had a piss poor work ethic at the time still put Douglas on his ass with one punch.
Now I'm not saying this automatically means all the results in those bouts would've been turned around had he trained like it was '87, but "at his best" Mike was not, though still in his youth.Last edited by Haglerwins; 12-06-2010, 08:17 AM.Comment

All your post is proves how it easy it is to own you, the 4 out of 7 fighters on the list I mentioned and to which you responded with the post above, were fighters from the 90s; Tua, Mormeck, Lewis, and Toney. They all ducked the Klitschkos. If you disagree with the Lewis thing, fine, but that still leaves Toney, Tua, and Mormeck. So you are saying all three of these are "cowards and bittch ass fighters"? Wlad and Vitaly are initimidating EVERYONE, the undefeated Olympic gold medalist, the belt holders, the old trial-horses, EVERYONE.hahahahaha All that proves is the HW division is just as ****ty as I say it is. Full of cowards and bittch ass fighters, that's why they didn't take those fights. Wlad would have had all he could chew if he was around in the late 80's and 90's like Tyson was, and you know that.Comment

I understand the argument here, but Tyson's aura was one of "Oh sh**, this guy is going to kill me, please don't hurt me."
Wlad's isn't anything like that, it's more of a prolonged dejection as you go into the fight thinking "just touch that chin" and realize how hard it is to do so.Comment
