i replayed that fight many times and still couldnt see that phantom shot....
so he had to make the next dive seem more realer...how about letting Manny Pacquiao punch him in the face for 7 rounds....Roach did say he saw marks on Oscar's arms from his camp trying to rehydrate him....who's to say if they didn't TAKE blood from him and make him weaker ....divers don't dive once ....so IF Oscar took a dive against B.Hop then he MUST have took one against Manny...it only makes sense!!
Bhops left hook is very underrated. His left hook to the body of Pascal is what allowed him to control pascal. Its an accumulative punch, but it has unexpected authority.
Add to that the fact that he arched his shot and did a little jumpset with it, added power.. and leverage.
Could very well have been legitimate... what is not so legitimate is Oscar's performance after the left hook
I think that left hook to the body wore Oscar's will in the fight down. WHen he went down he looked like a defeated man.. after that he exaggerated his pain just so he could try to save face, as if he was truly unable to continue and had no choice.
So Hopkins wasn't in on any kind of Dive plan.. And if Oscar took a dive, it was a snap decision thing, to avoid taking any more of those devastating hits to the body
I know this is old but over a decade later Hopkins is still De La Hoyas slave/partner at GBP. Oscar took a dive for sure you can even see Hopkins talking to Oscar before the supposed delayed reaction and using his glove to cover his mouth. I guess the deal was for life. Oscar fought him with the condition they became partners for life at that time oscar was moving away from Top Rank and was establishing his roster. Getting B hop was huge at that time.
The deal seem to be make me look strong for 9 rounds then i go down by a body shot and never get up. I promote your fights for the rest of your career.
Bhop sold his sold to the coke head just to get the pay day
I was a big Oscar fan and I think he did. He was pretty much a promoter when that fight came around. After Hopkins he didn't fight for 2 years and I think he did it to build up Hopkins name for Golden Boy.
A few days after the fight Hopkins announces he is partnering with Golden Boy always smelt fishy to me.
I don't think Oscar took a dive, but rather looked for a way out of the fight.. He got dropped by the body shot, but the impending execution he was headed for made him say no mas and take the count
**** Oscar, **** that ***** for taking that wack ass dive. that entire ending was bogus. And if he was looking for a way out, he did so by way of the dive
