Another costly divorce settlement was the 2004 breakup between actor Harrison Ford and Hollywood regular Melissa Mathison, who was also known for writing the script for Spielberg's E.T. Settlement Amount: $76 - $92 Million

In December 2008, pop star Madonna and director Guy Ritchie broke up their marriage of 8 years. Madonna's representatives confirmed the settlement was between $76-$92 million. Although Ritchie was worth an estimated $45 million at the time and said he wasn't interested in a substantial portion of his ex-wife's wealth, the settlement surely wasn't

    11. (Tied) Sumner and Phyllis Redstone

In a marriage that lasted 52 years, Sumner Redstone, the majority owner and chairman of National Amusements, which owns CBS, Viacom and MTV Networks, went through divorce proceedings with his wife, Phyllis. 11. (Tied) Steven Speilberg and Amy Irving

    Settlement Amount: $100 million

When they first met in 1984, Spielberg was well into his directing career and Amy Irving was an aspiring actress. Four years later, the couple ended their marriage in a $100 million settlement, which was half of Spielberg's net worth at the time. The couple actually did have a prenuptial agreement, but this was eventually thrown out in court, as it was

    10. Greg Norman and Laura Andrassy

    Settlement Amount: $103 million

After 25 years of marriage, Australian golfer Greg Norman split with his wife, Laura Andrassy, handing over $103 million in the divorce settlement. Settlement Amount: $168 million

Basketball legend Michael Jordan and his wife Juanita split up in 2006 after 17 years of marriage, and one year later came to a divorce settlement of $168 million. The couple considered divorce in January 2002, but reconciled their differences shortly thereafter. At the time, Jordan had been quoted as saying that he was willing to pay a premium to

    6. Roman and Irina Abramovich

    Settlement Amount: $300 million

I know who Ginos is, and I appreciate him, even though he doesn't like Pac or his team, he's actually a good user in these situations.

But if you are going to get a divorce...

For 18 years, Terry Fator - an effin' ventriloquist - was married to this woman and working children's parties and state fairs:

He then goes on America's Got Talent, and wins. He wins a $1 Million Dollar Prize. But more importantly, he gets a ton of exposure. That exposure allowed him to land a contract:

        http://www.usatoday.com/life/televis...nt-fator_N.htm

        By Gary Strauss, USA TODAY
A year ago, Terry Fator was making a modest living, performing his comedy act at small venues such as corporate retreats. Little did he know that appearing on NBC's America's Got Talent (season premiere tonight, 9 ET/PT) would upend his life.

With an uncanny ability as a singing ventriloquist and celebrity impressionist, Fator won the competition's second season, pocketing the $1 million top prize as best act and parlaying the appearance into stardom. Fator has already had some Vegas gigs and is drawing bigger audiences at larger venues throughout the USA.

That's just for starters. He'll begin headlining at Las Vegas' Mirage casino next Valentine's Day under a five-year, $100 million contract with an option for another five years at $110 million. "It's surreal," says Fator, 43. "I feel like Gilligan just inherited Thurston Howell's money."

So, then, Terry gets a divorce from the first wife (above) and marries a new wife (below):

What a total freakin' life upgrade.

So, if you ever think your life isn't going the way you want, don't give up... just keep fighting. Keep pushing!!

I agree. Beyond the Pacquiao-Mayweather **** (though I mostly agree with that too), he is a good poster. I appreciate these real examples and explanations on things that I normally wouldn't have the desire to research myself.

All about name recognition and which promoters you tied to, of course you have to be good or have been good, and SSM's case he was REALLY good back in the day and still good today, plus he has Golden Boy at his side (or had) and owns a piece of it, he wouldn't make half of what he did if he didn't own a piece of the promotional company.

In cases like this, the first wife really ought to get half. She was there when he was a loser. She should be compensated when the guy dumps her for some bimbo who's obviously in it for the money. If wife #1 isn't getting justly rewarded, the guy will definitely get his just desserts when, not if, wife #2 takes him to divorce court.

In all fairness, nobody knew Shane would be bad, though. He was AT LEAST solid last year in destroying Antonio Margarito.

Then Shane won the Floyd sweepstakes and was GUARANTEED $6.8 million plus PPV upside for that fight.

The reality, when you really look at it, is that GBP fighters earn more IN GENERAL than TR fighters do.

Think about this: Shane made as much for his Mayweather fight as Manny made for Delahoya, Hatton or Cotto. Tue story.

I don't hate on Shane for what he was able to make. Good on him. The problem is people who will rent Shane's name going forward.

                  Cubanito,

He was the one who elevated himself, though. Why should he give wife #1 half for the fruit of HIS labor?

Shane doesn't even need to fight anymore, he has (or had I guess) a 5% stake in Golden Boy Promotions. I'm sure that comes out to a few million dollars/year on its own.

And those 'needs' are ****ing ridiculous. Who needs over $5,000 per month on CLOTHES? That's a few times more than a person's mortgage and this do-nothing gold digger needs that much for clothes?

Cali needs to reform their divorce laws and make them a little more sensible.
