while each have their differences, and both their talents are really impressive, I just feel roy was more deadly. Just like snoopysmurf said, roy is a much physically bigger fighter, and to be so elusive in his size takes more strength and skills. If Mayweather moves up to 154-160, and excels at that weight class like he's been doing in the past weight classes, then absolutely no doubt I'll give the nod to mayweather, but right now it's still roy jones.
Floyd Mayweather Jr- "Of course, I'm better than Roy Jones Jr."

blah blah blah blah, this is all i hear whenever mayweather rants and raves about how hes better than everyone.Comment

And RJJ is bigger and to be so elusive takes more strength. He kept that quality in light heavy until age caught up to him. We'll see how slick PBF is when he moves up to 154, if he moves up.Comment

Originally posted by ParodiusRoy's counter punching is nowhere near the level of PBF. PBF better speed, better defense, better chin, better counter puncher. Roy gets the edge in power, but PBF power is pretty good also. Roy never impressed me that much, even in his prime. PBF is the complete package. If Whitaker had some power, then he would've been the complete package.Comment

even though both are boxers....they have very different styles.
I see it like this:
distance: RJJ
inside defense: PBF
outside defense: RJJ
power outside: RJJ
power inside: RJJ
speed outside: RJJ
speed inside: PBF
legs: PBF
ring smarts: RJJ
technique and skill: PBF
timing: tie
counter punching outside: RJJ
counter punching inside: PBF
most weapons: RJJ
most defense: PBF
most arrogant: ...ha,ha flip a coin
noth fighters are great. but if i had to pick a style it would be floyd's. it's more technically sound and not a lot of people are born with roy's physical attributes.Comment

goodness....can you imagine pernell having power.....wow! but it's very difficult to be elusive and have power for the main fact that you need to plant your feet to set up for a power punch. with whitaker's style it's very hard to generate a lot of power beacuse he mostly slipped and slid and circled. he never stood up straight and tried to hit a guy comming head on (RJJ) or stay in the pocket long enough to generate power and counter (PBF)Comment
