The title alone will cause many to shy away from the sentiments of the article. The author of the article is totally justified in his criticism of the Margarito fight. However, to criticize Pacquiao for not fighting the likes of Diaz and Casamayor AFTER THE HATTON bout is unwarranted. He went to the hottest division at the time, which was 147, and defeated two top 10 fighters in Cotto and Clottey. Another unwarranted criticism by the author is to say that Pac should have fought Alexander and Bradley AFTER Hatton. To be fair, who were those fighters at the time? Nobody was calling for those bouts.
With that said, Pac's recent accomplishments are tainted and there is no ignoring that. He started his run with David Diaz at 135. The author of the article should have stated that he should have fought Juan Diaz and Casamayor as opposed to David Diaz. Later down the road, he did beat Cotto. However, that bout was contested at a catchweight. After Clottey, he should have taken an opportunity to fight one of the monsters at 140. Many agree that the catchweight title bout for the WBC JMW championship with Margarito was a farce. It was basically a cheap way for Manny to add to his legacy. If Team Pac was really intent on fighting Margarito, it shouldn't have been for another title.Comment

and you don't see that as a conflict of interest?...strange, very strangei don't think pac ****ted on himself because i don't think pac has ever made a "mockery" of the sport...he has never done that. And, when you have an article that wants to hyperbole **** by using the word "mockery" then i find it hard to believe it is a good article...
I could careless if it is a negative pac article. I have read plenty of good anti-pac articles... But, none of those articles have to bull**** hyperbole to make it a good article... Once you start to hyperbole you lose credibility and if your article is lacking credibility than it can't be a good article...
Hyperbole articles makes a "mockery" of real journalist.
margarito was ranked #1 by the wbc though...Comment

It's a good article, but I already knew all this. Writer isn't even hating on Pacquiao so people need to stop bitching.Comment

This guy is such a clown. I particularly liked this bit of wisdom.
"Imagine if after Pacquiao manhandled Ricky Hatton at 140, he stayed around to fight the likes of Nate Campbell, Joel Casamayor, or Juan Diaz."
Any idea what the records of these three fighters are since the fall of 09? 1-5! The only win between the three of them was an 8-ROUND UD by Casamayor over JASON DAVIS. Give me a break.
Here's my version. "Just imagine how great Pacquiao would be if he had stayed around and fought Walter Estrada, Pauli Malignaggi, and Robert Guererro."
This guy is embarrassing himself.Comment

What conflict of interest? What are you talking about?
The writer and Jiddu said Marg wasn't ranked #1 or #2. But, actually he was ranked #1 by the WBC the belt that the fight was for...
So I don't get what you're saying?Comment

He was ranked #1 by the WBC, WTF are you talking about?
Whether or not he deserved that ranking he was still ranked#1.
How the **** was Marrade Hakkar a mandatory? Did he deserve it? I don't think so. Was it farce? I say so...But, was he ranked #1 by whichever garbage ass sanctioning body ranked him? Yes he was...
Again nothing new...The writer and you are trying to make it seem as if the WBC didn't have him ranked. When they actually did. Now whether he deserved that ranking is a whole different argument.Comment

The belt that was contested in the catchweight bout between Margarito and Pac was a WBC belt. Of course, they would place Margarito as number 1 to even justify making that farce of a fight. They stand to make money by making that fight. If look at the Ring Rankings or any other THIRD PARTY ranking system, Margarito and Pac, for that matter, were nowhere near the top 10 at 154. Let's say you don't believe any of the rankings. Ask yourself. Who did Margarito beat that was even in the top 10 at 154 to receive a shot at the 154 lb title?Comment

This dumbass writer, who people think wrote a good article which I don't see how, thinks that after Hatton Pac should of stayed around and fought Juan Diaz who just got KTFO by JMM. Casamayor who also got stopped by JMM and really hasn't done nothing after that, and Nate Campbell who just got done from seeing spots. Would be better than a win over Cotto? This guy is such a clown. I particularly liked this bit of wisdom.

Even though Cotto was coming off the Margarito beat down and the close fight with Clottey are we honestly saying late 2009 version of Diaz, Campbell, and Casa being better opponents than what that version of Cotto was? GTFOH...Comment
