If you want to give him credit for beating Tyson fine, but if Wlad fought Tyson today it would mean just as much as Lewis-Tyson did.

And oh yeah, both of Lewis' title reigns began by winning vacant belts, he never beat a champion in the ring to win the title.
          This post is just awful....

Vitaly imo is the better fighter and should be ranked higher then his brother. Wlad has always been the weak link and even now when his brother is past his best seems to be the most vulnerable of the 2.

Of course Vitali is the least vulnerable, Vitali is probably the most durable heavyweight of all time. I mean, this is a guy whose never been knocked down, has no problem going 12, and at freaking 39 years old is throwing more than and past champion per fight. This is a guy whose 2 losses came from what I consider fluke injuries. Vitali didnt look vulnerable against Byrd. At no point in that fight was anyone like, "oh man, Vitali's hurting from the birdman." No, at the worst moments they were like, "birdman's making vitali miss, but not coming back with anything." Im sorry you dont get points for dodging punches and bobbing up and down and not firing back. Maybe one day in boxing you will, but right now, thats not happening. Also, then he lost on a fluke cut. Its not like Vitali is particularly prone to cuts like some people, he got cut,it happens. Anyone can get cut. Anybody.

That being said, Wlad will go down as better, because thanks to getting started earlier, and not having a 4 year layoff, he will accomplish more in the sport than Vitali.

                Eddie Chambers

(Wladamir has beaten 8 current or former world champions)

So whats your take on Wlad's legacy, resume, & title reign?
A few things. I'll try to be objective. First thing is Wlad was never undisputed, which would be originally called WBC, WBA and IBF champion and people now seem to have expanded that meaning to any combo of having three of the four major world titles, including WBO (Like calling Haye undisputed at Cruiser). Next is there's dispute over whether or not he's now lineal, as he'd be in his own lineage. That's confusing stuff. I consider the Ring's judgment to be fair that he is THE MAN after beating Chagaev (and I think he was at least the top heavy after unifying with Ibragimov). That's okay with me. So, when rating his reign, I consider him linear at that point, in-line with Ring's title lineage. I believe right now, based on accomplishments and consistency, he's outside the top ten and only arguably top fifteen. The thing is, he has no ultimate foe as his signature victory. He, imo, has never beaten one fighter who was unarguably great, by any consensus.

He's beaten some pretty good fighters, and beaten them quite badly, like Byrd and Chagaev. This detracts a lot from his case for being ranked higher unless he really reigns as the Ring champion for many defenses. I do rate his wins against Chagaev, Ibragimov, Byrd and Chambers, whereas many don't, but as I said, it's just that none of them were unarguably great fighters. The guys in my top ten have all beaten at least one fighter I consider unarguably great and most did it more than once. Although I rank Patterson far higher p4p, I consider Wlad's legacy at HW to be in the neighborhood of Floyd Patterson's. I rate him in the teens at HW but I can see if someone else doesn't.

I could see how some might think that Wlad is better but i couldnt disagree more. Really what has Wlad accomplished that makes his career better then his brothers? I favor Vitaly over Wlad in a head to head match up and when i consider fantasy fights like Haye i always give Haye a better chance at the weaker chinned softer brother Wlad.

Now am I not defending Wlad on this post? I am confused...When I criticize Wlad Tunney calls me racist, when I say "when is all said and done he might be top 10 ATG" as a HW... I get called that by steelhamer?
