    What?

Marg = a mediocre, slow, plodding, one-dimensional, bum, with no KO power.

Serg = a skilled fighter, who is on top of his game

    Manny doesn't fight those guys.

Pac would get badly beaten and KOed early. Horrible style match up plus size equals getting destroyed.

Whilst I think Martinez would be trouble for Pacquiao, I dont understand why he is so highly regarded at the moment to be honest, sure he beat Williams 2x, beat Cintron in reality, but I see many flaws in his game, particularly his defense, I also dont think he is a particularly great Boxer.

I feel Martinez has taken up where Williams left of in terms of getting overrated.

If only Top Rank and Team Pac shared those same sentiments, we might could see this fight come to fruition.

To be fair to Martinez, what he does do well, plays out well for him in a fight with Manny, not that im saying that fight shouldn't be made, it should.

Picking off the cherry tree !!!

Bob arum just be true sergio martinez just knocked out a 6'2" guy. Sergio nartinez is a powerful southpaw. Manny pacquiao is the 154lb jr middle weight champ. He has no balls to defend the tittle. They both have not proven as a 154lb tittle contender . Wow pacquiao fights the almost 40year shane mosley that realy shows that pacquiao is p4p. To me if he fights mosley that makes team pacquiao a cherry picker also.

Well, this is actually pretty straight-forward.

                You are clearly under-rating Martinez.

Martinez had absolutely no amateur career, and only started boxing when he was 20. So the technique/refinements/ringIQ that usually become instinct long before an experienced amateur turns pro, didn't exist for Martinez.

I usually prefer the highly skilled seasoned amateurs.....
but what is not to like about this Martinez kid.

He does have technical deficiencies, and he drops his hands a lot, but I notice that his footwork has improved and is much better than it was in say, the Cintron fight.

Martinez is a little like Manny in that although being technically flawed, he has learnt to fight to his strengths really well, and also to cover his weaknesses.

" I feel Martinez has taken up where Williams left of in terms of getting overrated "

Sorry, but other than from a technical purist standpoint, I cannot see how you came to that conclusion.

With respect, I cant rate him based on what amateur experience he did'nt have, I can only rate him based on the skills he displays now.

Its not that I dont like him, just that I dont think his reputation among the Boxing community, marry's upto the skill/abilities he possesses.

so the weigh in weight mean nothing?

didn't they force marg to 150 weigh in? When marg wanted 151 at least 1 pound more, imagine the outcry if marg asked for a jr. middlweight fight with no catchweight, the outcry by arum, but weigh in's mean nothing, lol

His flaws and his willingness to fight the best to prove he's the best is enough for me in todays state of boxing. I do think he has improved significantly since the Cintron fight.

Damn, it's good to be able to disagree and still have a linear intelligent conversation. I appreciate real fans of the sport.
