when you sign a contract, you are (or can be) on the hook for the contract amount...not just the deposit.

what seems unusual here is that the locus of performance is being used as the venue rather than the jurisdiction where the contracts were executed and recorded (gensan, i presume)

You don't understand the way law suites work. The guy lost much more than 100,000 if Pac didn't show up, that was just Pac's fee.

I'm sure he had many people there hoping for Pac to show up, do promotions, cost for the set up, etc.....
