Carl Froch is like a squared circle, completely illogical

He has my respect.Froch has shown some flaws in the past and I think it makes people overlook his good qualities. They see him throwing that big uppercut from the other side of the ring or taking silly shots and think 'that's ridiculous, how is someone who fights like that going to win at the highest level?'. But of course you can't judge someone based upon just one moment or just one aspect of their game.
I think that a lot of the criticisms of him miss the big picture. For example everyone was united in criticising his defense and overall boxing skill after the Taylor fight, but really, he fought that fight the right way and if he hadn't forced the pace he probably would've lost a UD.
Of course it wouldn't been better if he would've forced the pace without getting hit as much, but boxing is about making the best of what you've got and he's done that very well. It was only the Dirrell fight where I thought he got the tactics wrong.
He's got the kind of confidence that produces not only ATG quotes but also results in him genuinely believing himself to be the best. I couldn't imagine Froch doing **** all for 12 rounds like AA did tonight, or bottling it like Green did against Ward. Allan Green with the mentality of Carl Froch might actually be a damn good fighter, but with the mentality of Allan Green he's nowhere near it.
I think Froch is very similar to Glen Johnson in that if you have a weakness, he'll expose it. He won't beat everyone but he'll always want to fight the best and can never be taken lightly.Comment

What stylistic problem does Glen present, Glen comes to fight that is what Froch wants.
Stylistic problems for Froch come from guys that are rangier than he is, which Glen Johnson is not. Glen is better inside but that is not that easy to just win that way so i don't consider that a bad stylistic match-up for him.Comment

I agree to a certain extent, I would say the guys that will give Froch problems are not the guys that come for a fight but rather the guys that come to out-range and/or outbox him. Anyone who comes to really fight him will be in for a tough fight but if you go in with a strategy to really frustrate him I think he has problems.Froch has shown some flaws in the past and I think it makes people overlook his good qualities. To me that is the difference between the Dirrell fight and the rest, I guess you could say Froch got it wrong but more so I think Dirrell got it right when it comes to beating Froch.Comment

Glen fights inside....Carl Froch can't fight inside at all. He doesn't know how. Froch is effective at range........that's the sylistic problem.Comment

Sig it now if you like......all my points on Johnson.Comment

That is not an easy way to win strictly fighting inside, especially if the other guy throws a jab.
All Froch would have to do is jab and grab, problem solved.
So that is not a stylistic problem to me.Comment

Froch is a ..."proud gentleman"... oh well, I like ****-talkers as long as they back it up
Froch did well the same reason Marquez did well today: He boxed. I don't mean "He was defensive" I mean he used every tool a boxer has to win. Good footwork and every different kind of punch there is kept Abraham from getting comfortable and working whatever the hell plan it was he had.Comment
