  • Will more fighters step up to the plate and fight Paul Williams now?

Boxing fans, or boxing idiots, say Williams was exposed of having a glass chin, that he's overrated, that he's never been a top P4P fighter.

So will fighters think the same as the "fans" and fight Williams now?

IMO, I doubt it. He's still The Punisher and he will still be avoided from 147-160. Martinez is a good fighter, and dumb asses are making his win look like it was nothing, thinking they're doing Martinez any good favors. Give Williams credit for being a good fighter, and give Martinez credit for beating a good fighter. Stop saying some one got exposed or was overrated.

Everytime a fighter losses now, he is exposed

    Williams is a 3x Champ

Beat Quintana, Marg, Martinez, cintron and Winky

Daniel Jacobs was hyped and overrated

    Williams wasnt

he'll be avoided the same as always.

nothing got exposed from the fight against Sergio, anyone would of gone down from that hit, and everyone already knew he had **** defence and left himself open.

I cant see many willing to fight williams, even if they think they could beat him. he's too much of a wild card, Williams next fight will be more telling of where he's at. I expect him to come back very strong and put all this 'shot' 'bum' 'overated' 'retirement' **** to bed.

Williams was never a p4p fighter neither was he overrated on a h2h basis.
Unlike some people here , promoters , managers and trainers know about their business enough to keep their fighters away from Williams .
Remember Martinez went down in 2 of his last 3 fights so he does get a little overrated.

Pavlik was probably drained against Martinez but still knocked him down and was not downed himself . Not even against Hopkins at 170. Pavlik may have a good future at 168 , which seems quite a strong division now.

anybody wouldnt have gone down from that hit lol.he caught with the punch 400 times in the 1st fight.all this fight showed was that he is incapale of making adjustments and he can be ko'd by some1 without alot of power.

ww will still avoid him,but im pretty sure he can get any fight he wants from 154-168.lets face it,he wasnt exactly calling everybody out at those weights.all he talks about is floyd and manny.he wasnt gonna give sergio a rematch if it wasnt for hbo

Possibly, as it makes Williams look vulnerable.

But I still believe many fighters will avoid him. Williams won a close fight against Martinez the 1st time and was holding his own until he got caught in the 2nd fight.

People are acting like Williams was totally outclassed and then knocked out.

Williams should get another rematch against Martinez at some point.

But nobody was calling him either.

He called out Margarito, right after Margarito beat Cotto, Margarito said no thanks.

He called out Mosley, right after Mosley destroyed Margarito. Mosley said it's a bad style match up for me.

He called out Mayweather, Pacquiao, they understandably didn't want to fight him being in the position they are now.

He wanted a prime Cotto at WW before he lost to Margarito, Arum was like no thanks.

He DID want to make fights happen, just nobody else outside of Martinez, Winky, and Dzinziruk, wanted to fight him, and he fought and beat two of those, lost now ot Martinez. I think Clottey also called him out, but at the time Williams was gonna fight a much tougher fight in Martinez and then Clottey goes on to lose to Pacquiao in early in 2010 in what had to be one of the worst showings by an opponent along with Harrison-Haye.

Williams now should rematch Cintron, fight Dzinziruk, just get back in the mix and come back strong. That's if Cintron even wants a rematch.

Exactly, this wasn't like Pacquiao-Hatton or Williams-Quintana II where Hatton just got outclassed before getting KO'ed cold. Williams and Martinez were going back and forth, catching eachother with clean shots but Martinez got the better of the trading. This was nothing close to a blow out win. It was a good punch that ended the fight.

At 147 i would say probably not but at 154-160 i think most of the up and coming guys will be gunning for Williams now.

Williams will be fine from 154-160.. 168 is a stretch, unless he drastically changes his defense.

Williams was never overrated IMO, what you saw was what you got; a tall, lanky,100-plus punches a round, relatively light punching, combo throwing 160lb fighter that no one really wanted to fight. His chin IMO is waaaaay above average, because Martinez threw the same exact punch numerous times in the 1st fight and Paul walked straight thru them; I think most Williams detractors and new-found Martinez fans forget that fact. Martinez caught Williams with his hands down, walking into a punch. I dont know anyone who could have stood up to that.

Whenever a fighter loses (at least on this board) he got exposed. Williams was ALWAYS easy to hit. Verno Phillips hit Williams. Winky did too. I remember Sharmba Mitchel landing like 5 straight right hands on Williams, and Mitchel is like 5'7. Its no secret that Williams could get touched. Peeps who say he got exposed dont know jack****.

With all that being said, Williams will still get fights from 154-160; and I think he will probably snatch a couple titles at 154 before its all said and done, then go back to 160.
