Yeah i agree that Pac although technically is a jrmw champ is not the true champ at that weight and everyone knows that for the most part.imo the idea of having alphabet titles is not really important when evaluating a fighters greatness. As far as Cotto Mayweather goes we all know that when the fight was at its highest earning potential and when it was demanded by the fans the most who ducked who.

I don't understand how you duck someone by taking bigger fights. But hey, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. That's like saying Pac ducked a third fight with JMM to fight de la Hoya. Or like sayign he ducked Paulie Ayala to fight Barerra the first time. Or like saying he ducked Bradley to fight Cotto. Mayweather-Cotto was a bigger fight at welter than it was at 140. But, Money took bigger events with de la Hoya and Hatton. And on the real, de la Hoya was arguably the best at 154 and Hatton was rated higher P4P than Cotto on any list you could find. So its not like he fought bums instead. He fought higher paying events. What's wrong with that?

Im talking about after the Hatton fight when Floyd made the famous im going to retire from boxing i dont want boxing to retire me comment after being asked about fighting the highest payday fight and most demanded fight with Cotto. Floyd had already fought Hatton and Oscar and Cotto was coming off a win with Shane i believe.

Pac's not being criticized for not fighting a middleweight either. Its Pac and his team that have risen to super stardom by fighting all of these catchweight fights. Martinez is willing to fight Pac at a catchweight. Not only is he willing to fight him at a catchweigth, he's willing to come down to a weight where Pac is reigning champ, according to his legions of fans. Mayweather fought de la Hoya (who was arguably the best at 154.) What's the problem with Pac fighting Martinez, who claims he can fight at 154 and aside from Pac, is arguably the best in that division?

i think pac should take the fight @ 154. since pac calls the shots in earning power in that match-up, he can also give sergio the same deal as margs... if sergio wants it, he can drain himself to 150... i think a "drained" sergio will STILL be dangerous for pac.

we all know pac's belt is bogus... so its not even about defending his belt.
its just about getting the top guys to fight each other... pac is a WW, jr MW was just another notch on the belt... he has no business hanging out @ MW.

btw, if oscar was considered the "best" at 154 at the time, it was purely by default. LOL. how the hell does coming back from a loss from b-hop, then beating mayorga considered being the best @ 154. i have no idea. LOL.

To the people claiming that Sergio is so MUCH bigger than Pac, tell me this, you guys do know if Sergio comes down to 154, he'll most likely rehydrate to 165-168 max (he weighed in at 168 on Fight Night against Williams, ONE pound heavier than Tony did against Pac) now, like ******* have said before, 1 pound isn't that big of a deal right? How is it ok for Pac to fight Tony whom weight in at 167, but not ok to fight Martinez whom most likely weigh in at 166-168? Is it because unlike Tony he will be fast and not block punches with his face?

WTF? what make you think margarito is stronger than martinez, you idiot. the fact that martinez weighed over 170, closer to 180 on fight nite against williiams is much more than the 165 that margarito came in on fight nite. thats close to 30 lbs heavier than pac on fight nite for martinez...its like pac wanting to fight the super bantamweight top fighter. insstead of fighting someone you'll be 30 lbs heavier, why not figth someone that is his weight during fight nite, or maybe he wants to challenge a top boxer that will be 30 lbs heavier than him on fight nite...make that happen martinez, fight a top fighter that will be 200+ lbs on fight nite...see how you like that

You'r basically saing that its OK to fight bums, as long as they're bigger. I stick to my stance. If you don't want to fight the best in a division, stay the **** outta th division. If Pac can't fight at 154, don't try and fraud the public by fighting for a paper trinket in the division.Has heavily as people criticize Mayweather, he's won belts in 5 divisions, and 3 of those are lineal. One was at 154 against de la Hoya, who was arguably the best at 154 when he got him. And he beat a 4th reigning lineal champ in Hatton. Which basically means in his career, he's picked off the top guy in 5 divisions. The same can't be said for Pac. He's won 4 lineal titles. But, at 122 he fought a second tier champ. At lightweight he fought a second tier champ. And at 154, he fought for a vacant trinket. The trinket he won against Cotto was bogus, but its not as bad as theothers because there was no clear-cut top guy in the division at the time.

I agree that Cotto was the next logical fight after Hatton. But, Mayweather didn't fight anyone for two years. You can't accuse someone of ducking when they're completely inactive. Ducking would have been fighting people other than Cotto. And when he came back, he fought the then supposedly top welter in Mosley. So who's to say had Cotto continued to win, Money wouldn't have fought him. Cotto was KO'd by Margarito, then Maragrito was KO'd by Mosley. Money fought the guy in the winner's bracket. I don't see how you can ask for more than that.
