man manny can fight booboo the fool next month at a 145 catchweight for the nabof copper middleweight title and his bogus fans would call him 9 time champion.

his 8th one is bull**** and jsut a belt around his waist. he and his opponent werent even ranked in that division and he fought it at a catchweight at that. dude wasnt even liscensed to fight in the coutnry but they did everything they could to get him to fight in america. wow they went out the country to cherry pick. both top rank.

cotto and clotty fighting for a vacent title both top rank and whoever won was gonna be fed to manny so he could got his 7th title. cotto won the gift decision because he was the bigger draw and manny beating him would look better on ppv. cotto wasnt the same and got destroyed against margirito and beat up and should lsot to clotty
but he was still the sacrifical lamb for manny. and at a catchweight for wbo belt?
why manny didnt go after the wbc or wba or ibf?

its all bull**** and david diaz? ricky hatton already lost even tho at welter and was getting hurt by laccazo and beat paulie they handed him a what ibo title so manny could get another bogus belt. i like manny his fights are exciting. but he is all product of match making and manipulating

Boxing has 5 major world titles. Boxing has 17 different weight classes. There can be 85 different champions at any one time. Boxing is a different game today.

I mean hell, there are 3 weight classes that are only separated by 3 ****ing pounds. If UFC has anything right, it's their weight class system.

What I find hilarious is the double standard in this place.

Martinez is no coward, let me say off the bat. And, he has every right to call out Pac.

But, I like how Pac is considered the coward by not fighting Maritnez at 154 at a weight-class that Pac probably feels uncomfortable in. I mean he weighed in at 144 for a 150 catch-weight bout.

However, P-Will was considered a coward for picking on smaller guys for wanting to fight Floyd and Pac at get this.......147!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not 154 but 147.

Martinez wants to fight them at 154(there is nothing wrong with that) but Martinez gets praised for and not criticized but P-Will got criticized for it which was ridiculous.

Just stinks of double standards to me.

It is fair to say that winning a 'vacant' title is the same as winning the title via defeating the champion holding the title?....

I try to just ignore the paper titles and look at opponents beaten and performances and he has been impressive all things considered even if he most likely is matched carefully and away from specific styles.

I guess. Either way I didn't consider either the real champ at 147.

Ok i thought we were just talking about titles not linear titles? In that case, lots of fighters are in question...

Yeah, exactly. For me it's not necessarily linear as it is fighting the #1 guy in the division which is not always the same thing. I still think the Cotto win is one of the best in Manny's career but he had an opportunity to fight the #1 guy at 147 and never did. So when they mention 8 titles blah, blah...whatever. Same with Floyd. They manufactured a title for Oscar at 154 before Floyd fought him and Gatti was not the man at 140. In today's era of boxing, all these multiple division belts mean squat.
