williams weighed in at 168 against martinez.. thast super middle,, and he still looked frail, he needs to be fighting guys his size, he just got caught clean, no need to run from the division.

Have you seen Chad Dawson and Jean Pascal's bodies?? No way is Paul Williams their size. It's not about height and reach, it's about his frame. His legs are so thin along with his torso. He should fight Margarito at 154.with his height and reach, and from what i can tell from his body size, PW is a middleweight and could be as high as a supermiddleweight, even maybe as high as light heavyweight...
so PW cannot beat guys his own size so he needs to go back to welterweight? that would be considered draining himself, according to *****s...
why dont PW try to go up to super middleweight, i think he has a better chance against the top fighters there, as long as martinez dont move up...but according to what i saw in his size and weight, martinez could easily fight as a super middleweight, and maybe as a light heavyweight...why these boxers continue to try and lose weight to make a division, then go back up 10 to 20 pounds on fight nite is ridiculous...there should be a mandate that says you cannot be 5 pounds over the max weight limit come fight nite...that way the fight will be as even as can be.
in martinez's case, without the catchweight against PW, he had to lose 15 pounds to make weight...if he had to drop 15 pounds to make weight, he shouldnt be fighting in the middleweight...he should be fighting in the super middleweight or light heavyweight.Comment

That's just ignorant. A fighter is matched with who he's matched with. He can't help it if he's tall for his division. It doesnt take a "rocket scientist" to see that either. With your logic Hearns was carefully matched at welterweight. The Kiltschko's are carefully matched as heavyweights. And how tall do you think Pavlik is genius?Your right there are no height divisions but it also doesn't take a ***ing rocket scientist to see that Williams is being carefuly matched against fighters that he has great hight and reach advantages against. And yes I know he doesn't fight tall all the time. But all that hight and reach even on the inside makes it difficult to avoid him. He may be and inside fighter but it makes it difficult for the smaller fighters to use their footwork to get away from him. So yes his 81 in reach is a huge advantage when you are pressuring smaller fighters and not so much when you are fighting taller rangier fighters.Comment

listen, the thing is, if p williams weighed close to 170 on fight nite, he shouldnt be fighting in the welterweight division...weighing close to 170, you would figure he'd test the super middleweight division...How ****** can people be? Its called weight divisions not height divsions. Paul is not that big, hes just tall and really lanky.
Perhaps lets make a special class for the Kilts since they are so much bigger than most. Lets call it the super duper tall divsion...........
and being that he weighed close to 170 against martinez, wouldnt williams be weight draining himself according to *****sexuals? williams/martinez was at a catchweight favoring williams, did williams win? what does that tell you about catchweight fights? regardless, i would still hate to see PW go back 2 divisions to welterweight knowing that he has weighed close to 170 on his past several fights...and to be honest, margarito (165 lbs) should be fighting at middleweight.Comment

what he should do is eat breakfast, lunch and dinner like normal people and he might weigh what a man 6ft 3 should weigh! that'd be a start.Comment

ya think?According to promoter Dan Goossen, Paul "The Punisher" Williams may be returning to the welterweight division for a while. Last Saturday in Atlantic City, Williams was knocked out in two rounds by WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez. Since 2008, Williams has been taking fights at 154 and 160-pounds. Williams' height of 6'3, and 81-inch reach, made it very difficult to land fights at welterweight. He moved up to find bigger game. Goossen plans to speak with Williams, and managers George Peterson and Al Haymon, about another welterweight run.
