Ducktales
1. Pacquiao has been trying to face the best black boxer in the world for the better part of the last year. While it is at least arguable that Pacquiao was partially at fault for a showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. not occurring March 13, Mayweather is, without question, completely culpable for the what could become the most lucrative event in boxing history not coming to fruition last Saturday night or tonight. Mayweather made a farce of their second round of negotiations by claiming he had no knowledge of talks between his own adviser, Al Haymon, and HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg.
Not surprisingly, the ever-mysterious Haymon has remained silent about being embarrassed by his own enigmatic “client,” but Greenburg has publicly acknowledged that there were indeed negotiations during the late spring and early summer to stage the fight Nov. 13 or tonight.

Ricky Hatton: a face-first brawler who had been manhandled by Collazo and knocked out before with a volume attack and no real one-punch power to speak of.
Oscar De La Hoya: Hadn’t been at 147 for a decade. Granted, he asked for that weight, not Manny, but let’s be real. When did you really believe Oscar, who lost most of his elite fights, was last a major threat? It’s been awhile and certainly a decade since you felt that about him at welterweight.
Miguel Cotto: That’s a tough one. Had Cotto not been at a catchweight, we might see this one differently. I thought it was a masterful performance by Pacquiao. Hell, they all are. But the weight bugs us. Like with Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II for the HBO middleweight title, if two pounds is not a big deal, then why did Manny and Paul ask for them? Everyone knows that the last three or so pounds are the worst. That will always hang over that fight, regardless of how fast or great Manny is. It just will. What did Manny do to earn a shot at a vacant title at 154? He hasn't even earned a real title at welterweight. He won that one at a catchweight and the title he won was won in a box off between Miguel Cotto and Michael Jennings. Not a real title.
And the Cheato fight: Well, Manny beat the ass of a slow guy who outweighed him by 17 pounds. Yeah, it’s impressive that he was able to take the shots and do what he does. But let’s be real. Margarito was never an elite 154-pounder. That vacant belt is as legit as Jose Sulaiman’s “Man of the Year” award he gave to Jerry Jones. It’s ceremonial. It says, “Here, Manny. You fought and won another exciting fight in another weight class. Here is the belt that commemorates that achievement.”
Nothing more. “Reality vs. Marketing”…

fight happened because Zab was the favorite going into the
fight. Once Baldomir got the upset win, Floyd made Zab people
renegotiate the contract and Zab got less than he did before
he lost to Baldomir. On top of that. Baldomir was the Lineal
champ at WW, so who wouldn't want to fight him? I mean, alot
of you guys on here claim to know boxing or follow the sport but
don't even know what is really going on.

hopkins is saying pacquiao could not beat an african american but he could beat a mexican, puerto rican, dominican, ghanian, japanese, thai, iranian, british and filipino. therefore african american is better than everybody........that sounds rascist and insulting to me.....

Hopkins is a racist jerk...
This reply is for ANYONE who doesn't think Bernard Hopkins is a racist...
His most recent comments on Pacman avoiding "Black" fighters is a load of crap...Especially when Manny time & time again called out the so-called Most gifted Black fighter today..Floyd "Scared of Manny" Mayweather...Hopkins is confused...
And Hopkins' ****** comments about Not wanting to lose to a white boy or being ashamed in losing to a white fighter takes the cake......
Can you imagine if that was the other way around?? If ANY white fighter claimed that they'd never lose to a Black boy then they'd be assassinated..
Hey Bernard..Since there is a BET television station...why not have White Entertaiment TV...or better yet..Let's have an all-White Awards show..Hey..even still, Why not White History month??
Hey PPL..get my drift !!!
RACISM is ****** isn't it?
Tell that to Bernard Hopkins..I Can't stand him...I loved it when Calzaghe shut his face up when B-Hop DID get beat by the white boy...hahaha
****** comments sometimes come back to bite 'ya in the arse !!

And speaking of Chad Dawson, his stock will and should go even lower if Hopkins beats Pascal really impressively.
