why does Roy Jones get a pass for ducking all the fighters that he did?

People criticize mayweather but there really isnt much of a difference between the way he works and the way jones did, except that roy was alot more active and didnt take vacations. All the boxing media criticized Jones for taking easy fights and hiding behind hbo.

Don't start start that bs again that supposedly he ducked Nigel Ben and Eubank.

Nigel ben admitted it himself that he would have lost to Roy.

Dont know about Eubank because he was happy fighting bums and not taking risks like roy jones but benn wanted to fight Jones and so did steve collins. Then there are other fights like michael nunn who was jones mandatory and then there was tarver who jones try to avoid for years.

Reed had a very good and thorough thread debunking any ducking roy supposedly did, you should look it up it's a good read and good discussions.

also, the difference here with floyd and jones is floyd is ducking the biggest money fight in the history of the sport. Jones never did that. He never ducked the biggest money fights available. Maybe you can make the argument that jones didn't go out of his way to fight some guy in germany or england or whatever, but that's a totally different scenario.

I'm a hopkins fans too, but I have to defend jones here.

1 reason for giving Roy a pass would be that he was a helluva lot more entertaining to watch than Floyd is.

mayweather had this rep long before the Pac fight even came up,its no coincidence that all these journalists at the time were openly criticizing roy jones for not fighting certain fighters,he hid behind his contract with hbo just like Mayweather has done over the last 5 years.

He said that after he retired. He also spoke about wanting to fight Jones after the McClellan fight, but he then lost to Malinga.

Jones didnt fight Benn, Eubank, Collins because of circumstance. I dont believe he outright ducked them. Who is to say who ducked who?

I also think Jones does get criticised for not fighting certain fighters.
