Really? He's past his prime and was sucking himself to make weight for a long time. I think the combination will hurt him. Hopefully not. One thing I've learned in boxing though is to go with your first instinct. Because all the BS and publicity will get to you and affect you later. And my first instinct when this fight was signed was...wipeout. At 154, against a journeyman, he looked mediocre. At 147 against an elite fighter, he was destroyed. Freddie Roach said it best: I saw your last two fights. Then to put a catchweight on top of it? Good night.

I was actually a huge fan of Margarito and a small part of me wants him to redeem himself. But this is his payout. He'll realize this by round five as he's huffing and puffing around. Then he'll fully understand why he was asked to come down to 150; why they brought a 24x24 foot ring; why Laurence Cole is the ref...and why Ariza is snickering.

I can't even count how many times guys looked ripped at the weigh in and got tired quickly, or looked flabby and fought 12 grueling rounds.

      Sometimes looks can be deceiving.
Exactly. We will see during the weigh in how ****** in he looks. Even then, some fighters can rehydrate and show no worse for wear. Some cannot get their electrolyte balance back and fall apart.

He might go in there and be relentless. His last fight could have been a result of inactivity or possibly because he never really looked good when he fought at 154. At 154 he always seems to lose his edge. That could still be an issue for him. As you said there are so many intangibles. Cutting down to 150 may actually help him. It may be detrimental or he may just be an old fighter now. Even after tomorrow, if he loses we may not know. We can all speculate of course.

Saying he was drained against Mosley though I refuse to agree with. It was a likely excuse and I refuse to take away the shine of Shane's good win late in his own career. Shane earned it by tearing him up. I guess I am just tired of the excuse game.

Well if he wasn't drained against Shane and simply got his ass kicked then why is he getting this fight again? $60 for a tuneup? Pass.

this is not plain and basic common sense. there are to many margarito haters on the boxing scene because they fear margarito will crush there hero.

The only reason I think Margarito has a chance is due to the size difference. I mean Shane could push around Margarito. I don't think Manny can do that. That is how Shane won. Manny cannot win that way. Manny will have to fight smart. It is all about styles and size.

Shane didn't win by pushing Margarito around - I mean, nothing Shane did stopped Margarito from coming forward. Except the bombs he kept landing on his jaw. And by the sixth, Margarito had taken one too many. Same thing will happen here. i got over the whole size differential thing when I saw Pacquiao languishing on the ropes, inviting Cotto to hit him while doing his best to hide his smirk.

they cant justify it. due to the 24 hr rehydration rule, catchweight fights are not really a advantage or disadvantage for anyone.

Do you know almost every big name fighter out there is coming in weight drained?

That's what is happening in boxing now with the 24 hr. rehydration policy. the majority of the sport is fighting at their unnatural weight. Arthur abraham, paul williams, nonito donaire, hugo cazares, heck almost everybody 168 & down are not fighting at their normal body weight.

Everybody is taking advantage of the 24 rehydration rule. Catchweight fights were made to prevent cancellations of title fights, not because of medical malfeasance.
