    Can Hatton beat Mayweather?

after reading Frank Lotierzo's view on the winky/mayweather fight i couldnt help but think, could ricky have a good chance of beating floyd?

"Floyd Mayweather is no fool. He was hurt by Jose Luis Castillo, which is something that has been cleansed by his victory over Gatti. In 24 rounds fought over two fights with Castillo, he never had him off his feet. In reality he should be 1-1 against him. There were more than a few, including myself, who scored the first fight for Castillo."

i havnt seen the fight so i cannot comment but if castillo hurt floyd then surley ricky can?

what are your opinions guys ?

If Hatton and Mayweather face off, I'll be putting my money on Hatton. Hatton's style would be a nightmare for Mayweather... I can imagine Mayweather winning quite few of the earlier rounds with sharp accurate shots, but I don't think Mayweather has the power or strength at 140lbs to hurt Hatton.

As the fight enters the 6th round, Hatton will up and up and up the pace and will exhaust and drag Mayweather into deep water.

Of course it's possible that Mayweather could beat Hatton, but I don't think Mayweather would be able to win the fight by trying to fight at distance and "boxing" Hatton. Hatton is too affective at closing the distance. If Mayweather is going to beat Hatton, he's gonna have to beat Hatton at his own game.

i'd love to see hatton ktfo mayweather, but i doubt that would happen..........the location of the fight would also play a role in the outcome of the fight.....

i think mayweather would keep his distance and sting ricky here and there en route to a UD decision....i don't think pbf would look at going toe to toe with hatton.

I believe that Ricky's best quality is his affectiveness at closing the distance... In 39 fights, no one has been able to stop Ricky Hatton fighting Ricky Hatton's fight.

I personally think that the key to beating Ricky Hatton is to beat him at his own game.

Ricky won't stand there in firing range like Gatti did against Mayweather. I think Mayweather trying to box Hatton from distance is completely the wrong game plan. Every fighter that's been in the ring with Ricky before has commented on how fast and strong he is.

It's that extra strength at 140lbs that's be the key factor in Ricky Hatton winning.

People underestimate Floyd's power, which happens with most fighters that are considered "defensive". I could see Hatton's handspeed being a problem, plus his ability to deliver a lot of power in a short shot...the reason why he's so good in close. But Floyd's no fool, he's not going to stick to one gameplan that's guaranteed not to work. He does his homework on fighters, despite his arrogant claims to the contrary.

Also important will be the ring size. If he walks into the MEN I'm sure they'd give him a postage stamp to work from haha. Seriously though he'll need some room to move, but I can't see anyone beating Floyd at this point. Hatton's certainly the toughest opponent out there for him now, though.

Personally no, hatton can make it close and will be a very tough fight for PBF but i see floyd being slightly to slick and nicking a a very close UD or SD

Well Bombardier... I think I may be one of them people that underestimate Floyd's power, but I genuinly believe he doesn't hit hard enough to cause any of the elite @140lbs too many problems.

Floyds never been a big puncher, even down at super-featherweight I didn't consider him to be a knock-out artist. He hit's fighters with a lot of shots and KO's them that way (a lot like Hatton!), but I'm still on the thought of "We don't know what he can do @140lbs yet", and I'll keep thinking this way untill we see how he fares against a top 5 super-lightweight.

I'm not a Mayweather hater or anything, I enjoy watching him fight... But I wasn't overly impressed with how Mayweather got on with Corley (Considering what Cotto did to Corley several months later)... And I always said that Gatti was just there for the taking.
