Allright lets stick to the orignial topic at hand, its obvious that its too early to call who the fighter of the year will be. Come December I think we can collectively decided on 2 or 3 fighters that deserver it. As for if Tarve should be fightr of the year if he beats Roy Jones, the answer is hell no!

      hmm

Glen Johnson; which nobody thought he would win
LOL...what? Most people picked Tarver to win.

Even if Tarver beats Roy, he wouldn't deserve fighter of the year because he was expected to win.

FOTY is up in the air, but Tarver is not really in contention right now. He hasn't done anything dramatic. Corrales if he beats Castillo is the obvious pick. However, Castillo would be in the running if he wins. Floyd would be a shoe in to win it if he fights and beats Mayweather. If Lacy beats Joe C., he would also be in the running.

Who didn't think Tarver would beat him? Johnson is as overrated as it gets.

Fighter of the year gets the status by winning fights your supposed to lose...so if Jones wins he should be fighter of the year..

Umm, it doesn't work that way. Floyd Mayweather isn't going to be expected to lose to Judah, but if he beats him, he'll be the fighter of the year. No losses + solid wins against solid opposition = fighter of the year, monkey boy

              Diego's right!

Winning fights you're supposed to lose, then there really arent too many candidates. And whose the authority to say a fighters suppose to lose this fight and not the other fight?

i'd say chico corrales. the biggest fight people are talkign about so far is the rematch between chico and castillo. the fact that this rematch will happen also this year will add to this fact. if castillo wins though id give him fighter of the year since he was so ****ing badass in the first fight. those two guys can really make a fight.

I say whoever wins in the Castillo-Corrales rematch deserves to be fighter of the year.

Other candidates would have to be
                    Diego Corrales
                    Floyd Mayweather Jr
                    Hasim Rahman if beats Klischko
                    Calvin Brock?
                    Jermain Taylor?
                    Jeff Lacy
                    Winky Wright
Zab Judah(a lock if he beats PBF)
It would be a great win for Tarver but everyone is expecting him to win so how great would it really be? He expected to destroy roy...

there are easily more candidates now that beat out Tarver regardless of how he does against Jones in October.
