Is Tarver the fighter of the year with a win?

If he beats RJJ thats 2 premier victories in 2005. Glen Johnson; which nobody thought he would win, and RJJ which will probably be the 2nd most lucrative fight of the year(behind Hopkins/Taylor)

Other candidates would have to be
    Diego Corrales
    Floyd Mayweather Jr
    Hasim Rahman if beats Klischko
    Calvin Brock?
    Jermain Taylor?
    Jeff Lacy
    Winky Wright
Zab Judah(a lock if he beats PBF)

not corrales (cheaters dont deserve to be Fighter of the Year).
    if floyd beats judah, yes.
rahman has had only one fight this year and hes a joke, so no.
    calvin brock, no.
    jermain taylor, no.
jeff lacy, if he beats joe cal, yes.
winky wright, one fight this year, no. his next match has to be a super match.
judah, if he beats PBF, yes.

as for tarver, only two fights this year (RJJ included), no.

At the end of the year, when all as said and done the fighter of 2005 will be Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

I thought Corrales was the FOY last year and the major pick - including I believe, this site - was Glen Johnson, so I guess the reporters dig the light heavyweights...

I guess Tarver could be FOY, since that was how Johnson won last year.

If Winky-Mayweather or Mayweather-Judah comes off, I would say the winner is fighter of the year, even if Tarver kills Jones in the ring...

If Taylor beats Hopkins a second time and Corrales beats Castillo a second time, they deserve consideration too. Heck, if Castillo beats Corrales - his 2-1 is better than most guys' undefeated years. Let's not forget he already beat Julio Diaz this year, too...

People dig the heavyweights, but I think even with a vicious 1st round KO over Vitali(not likely), Rahman still shouldn't deserve FOY. Vitali to the heavyweights IS NOT what Hopkins is to the middleweights or Castillo is to the lightweights...

I thnk Floyd will end up with it if he wins against Winky. If that doesn't happen. If Corrales beat Castillo I think he will get it.

If Corrales beats Castillo again, he gets it

If Mayweather beats Judah, and Corrales loses, Mayweather gets it

If Corrales and Mayweather both lose, and Tarver wins, Tarver gets it

I agree, Corrales SHOULD have won it last year. Tarver was on his way to winning it but lost a split decision (I thought Tarver won) to Johnson. Johnson knocked out an already dead Roy and should have lost to Tarver, that's why I didn't think Johnson deserved it. Whatever, maybe Corrales will get it this year

whwat u mean no one thought he would win agaisnt GJ, i thought he won both fights. and the second one, he still had the better odds.
                corrales if he beats castillo.
mayweather depends on his nex fight, same with judah.
                brock.. nope
taylor... mayb (has to beat hopkins in rematch)
lacy... has to beat calzaghe and has to do it well
winky depends who he fights next.
hasim rahman nope. even if he beats klitscfhko.... cuz for sum reaoson lots of ppl say hes not the best in the division. he wont beat him anyway tho
if klitschko fought sum1 else in the beginning of the year, he could be a candidtate

lots of rematches this year have taken place or r going to take place.

If Mayweather beats Judah than he should get it. If Judah wins then he should get it. Simple as that. Mayweather would succesful move to 140 to capture a belt and then move to 147 to capture a belt. Judah would beat the top p4p and win his 2nd big fight of the year, the other being his KO victory over Cory Spinks.

No, Tarver is expected to DESTROY Jones by the experts...

Fighter of the year gets the status by winning fights your supposed to lose...so if Jones wins he should be fighter of the year..
