But why is it wrong for fmj to say it and believe it???

the difference is they asked pac if he thinks he's the greatest.....

floyd on the other hand goes out of his way to tell everybody he's the greatest while trashing along every fighter his feeble little twerp mind can think of. Pac was asked a question & he responded what he felt. He doesnt go around acting like a jerk & telling every one he's the greatest.

        THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE.

I think we should start having this conversation after Manny is retired.

They believe they are the best. I expect them to believe they're the best. I would be more surprised if he said "It's not me ______ was much better than I am".

what this guy said. I take issue with people lambasting Floyd for saying it, and now predictably saying ridiculous things like "he has claims to it" "it's the truth" when Manny says it.

It's easy, neither of them have the claim to GOAT status.

I was just about to post something similar to this. Every athlete that competes on an elite level believes they are the best, no matter what they tell you.

The reason Floyd gets heat is:

1st he trashes every legendary fighter in an attempt to build himself up. When is the last time you heard Manny talk about Ray Robinson's 19 losses, Ali losing later on in career and other b.s. spewed in an attempt to discredit legendary fighters who made the sport what it is today?

2nd If you are gonna go that route...ala Ali, atleast attempt to back it up. Nothings more disgusting than criticizing fighters who took incredible risk, only to turn around and retire at the first sign of a legitament threat.

I mean lets keep it real Floyd fans....you have to know why Floyd gets the heat that he does?

he didnt say he was the greatest. he was asked who was the greatest. he paused and asked including me? it was more like a joke that HATERS would never ever get. why would he say including me if he believed he was the greatest? he could have answered the question right away. because the guy knew Manny would say "me". they both laughed at it.

Actually no one has a claim to the GOAT status as every era is different and so much of that is subjective.

I have this same convo when it comes to b-ball, rap, football...you name it.

Who knows how any of these elite fighters would have faired in other eras. All we can do is speculate and given the fact that boxing is about as unpredictable of a sport as any.....saying someone is the GOAT boxer is flat out ridiculous.
