i believe his story but he did chose not continue because of the injury

he chose to stop fighting because the shoulder injury was holding him back

no big deal! He fought a great fight and was in it but the shoulder started to hurt him when he he needed it because lopez was coming on.

there is no shame in that. he gave it his best that night and knew he didnt have the firepower (shoulder) to continue and win the fight

i dont get why people are talking smack about him being a quitter

i am sure it is only in response for the smack talking people did against cotto

which i didnt understand either. both Rafa Marquez and cotto were in wars before they choose not to go on. thats not quiting. thats fighting until you realize who the better man is that night and accept defeat

anyways great fight by Rafa Marquez and lopez

I barely remember seeing an assertive use of the right hand, except in a small few flashing combinations. I'm going to go and review the video now, though.

In the corner we heard him say that he would go but he can't use it (the right). Rafa is a warrior.

I'm not bashing him for being a quitter. I'm bashing him for using that as his excuse for the loss. He was being mauled, and it's partly being in too many wars and being too old and partly because he was in with a bigger, younger, stronger and maybe faster guy. He used his right hand all night but found more success with his left hook. Lopez survived a huge scare in round 4 but otherwise dominated the fight. Yes, it was exciting and had some great twoway action, but every round but round 4 was Lopez'.

Faulty poll. Of course he quit - he didn't come out to fight and that is indisputable. What you meant to ask was if we believe the injury to be real (which I do)

Let's just put it this way. I think JMM has more heart than he does. And I'm saying that as a huge Rafa fan even after last night. I'm not gonna front and say he didn't quit because he did.

I think it was a bit of both...

Marquez was starting to take a beating. Sure he would land one punch every now and then, but he was getting so much more than he was giving.

I think the shoulder did begin to bother him. Not really sure how much though, but I do know the way Tony Weeks grab him by the right arm after the round was over (looked like that could have very well pulled on the socket) couldn't have helped it...

yea because marquez has shown his whole career that he hates all out brawls and he likes to quit.

***ing ******s. Everything i try to give NSB a chance to come in here and talk boxing with some serious boxing heads that love the sport and know the sport you always have ******s spamming the board. Good thing it's sunday and I can watch football. Cya

Marquez injury was legit. He didnt throw his right hand very much in the fight, and the right hand is his main weapon. He recieved far more punishment in the izzy fights so to say he quit because of punishment is just ******
