Bute-Pascal would be huge in Canada, everyone knows it. Bute doesn't want it... apparently for at least 2 years since he has 3 fights with Showtime plus 1 more against the S6 winner if you actually believe that.

Bute is naturally bigger than Pascal anyway, is 3 inches taller and would hardly be handicapped by meeting Pascal at that weight.

Instead of making the biggest fight in Canadian boxing history Bute is gonna let it sit for 2 whole years while he does absolutely nothing to impress fans.
When Bute declined to fight Pascal at 175, the tourney was falling apart (postponement, then Kessler pulling out...). Bute and his team thought they could get to fight the S6 guys right away, or soon at worst.

They never made an offer to fight Dany Green (as far as I know). They said it was a possibility, among many others, but wanted the fight lower than 175. I agree it's odd since Green is now a cruiserweight, but maybe they didn't realize that and thought he was still at LHW.

You're right to say that Bute-Pascal would be huge in Canada. But even if one of the 2 loses a fight or 2, it will still be huge here. It could get so much bigger outisde Canada, but in Canada, it will be huge whatever happens.

2- It is part of Bute's contract with Showtime that the Bute - S6 winner fight is in neutral territory. Bédard said that whoever wins the tourney wouldn't agree to fight in Montreal, and you'll agree with him, I think.

3- Every time someone says an american should fight outside the US, people say "Hey, that's where the money is. It's a business" But when a foreigner doesn't fight in the US, he's hiding in his hometown. Textbook double standard.

Bute is letting the biggest fight in Canadian boxing history go to waste right now.

2 years from now Bute-Pascal won't even be on the radar and he will have blown a great opportunity to have this fight at the height of both men's careers.

Why? It makes no sense for Bute to pass on a Pascal fight for any other reason than being afraid to lose. He has nothing better to do while he waits on the Super 6 and 12-18 months is plenty of time to move his weight back down to 168.

Ward, for what it's worth, will have to win outside of his hometown if he wants to win the Super 6. Bute will continue in his hometown for the next 2 years while Ward continues to prove why he is the best on the biggest stage, against the best opponents.

I'll be honest I think Johnson would stop Bute.

However as for the topic.........Bute would give Mangler problems but even then I'm not betting against my boy. LOLZ.

That's a terrible excuse. Absolutely terrible.

Not sure what else to say about that as most of Bute's excuses are, for lack of a better word, terrible.

I agree, Johnson has the same toughness, determination and durability as Andrade but he also brings 10x the skill level to the table.

He'd be able to break Bute down much more efficiently than Andrade was able to. (when he KTFO of Bute who couldn't even walk back to his corner)

Pascal called Bute out in August. At that time, Bute had a fight signed for October. Pascal had to dige Dawson a rematch. When would the fight've happened? 2 months after Bute's fight?

Don't act as though Pascal didn't wait fo the perfect timing to call Bute out. Why didn't Pascal mention Bute rather than going after the WBC belt when he was at SMW? Because the timing wasn't good for him. Both guys had a chance to make the fight happen, both turned it down when it wasn't to their advantage to do it.

by the way ill be cheering against bute in half of the possible s6 matchups since some of my favorite fighters are in there

it just literally seems like no matter what he does people whine and drop the word "montreal"

check out the other bute thread on the front page right now... some guy complaining that bute shows up at cards as a spectator too often .................... desperate much?

admit it if he did NOT sign with showtime and had some pending fight with pavlik or pascal or something on HBO, you guys would be calling him a coward for "ducking" the top 168 fighters

They sparred 2-3 times in the last 18 months, and I remember Johnson saying that he had a hard time keeping Bute's pace...
