Also, Showtime can't guarantee anyone that they can make Bute leave his precious Bell Centre and fight in the US.

Ward sure as hell isn't going to Montreal after earning his reputation in the ring against the best fighters in the world, unlike Bute.

The onus is on Bute to sack up and come to the USA to fight Ward but why would he do it?

As his fanboys are so happy to point out.... he can make almost as much money fighting bums in Montreal.

Yeah I have alot of respect for Pascal, he has a real fighters mentality, unlike Bute.

Not sure how I got that confused. Fact remains that Bute's promoter (whoever it is) is just as content to milk his belt as Bute is.

And c'mon boxing fans you gotta admit that it's sad when an undefeated Champion like Bute shows up to a major fight to scout the loser as a potential opponent.

Not sure i've ever seen that before in all the time I have followed the sport.

What fighters? Kessler, then... Ward has 1 good win so far.

Jean Bédard said that the fight against the S6 winner would be in neutral territory. They are looking to do it at the MSG.

Bute is a *****, and Allan Green doesn't deserve another shot at a champion.

That just shows you that there isn't anyone he can fight at the weight. Unless you have someone in mind, in which case I would love to know who.

I agree that Bute shouldn't fight Green though.

1: Yeah Kessler... and Bika who is arguably the best name on Bute's resume. Then Ward will beat some combination of Johnson-Froch-Abraham for his next 2 wins and his resume will be so far superior to Bute's that it won't even be worth talking about.

2: Yeah they said it will be in NYC, but when the time comes they will say the money is in Montreal and use it as an excuse to balk at the fight.

3: You're right, Bute has a ready made excuse to stay in Montreal and he intends to use it for a very long time.

Fact is that he blew off the Pascal offer to fight at 175 and said that he would not consider a move up in weight.

Then as soon as Pascal signed to fight Hopkins he magically changed his mind about being able to fight at 175 and made an offer for Danny Green.

Bute-Pascal would be huge in Canada, everyone knows it. Bute doesn't want it... apparently for at least 2 years since he has 3 fights with Showtime plus 1 more against the S6 winner if you actually believe that.

Bute is naturally bigger than Pascal anyway, is 3 inches taller and would hardly be handicapped by meeting Pascal at that weight.

Instead of making the biggest fight in Canadian boxing history Bute is gonna let it sit for 2 whole years while he does absolutely nothing to impress fans.

1- Bika will be the second best win for Ward, and it is Bute's second best win too (not counting Bute-Andrade I, I don't want to get into that...). Kessler is a better win than Andrade, but my point is that right now, Ward's resume isn't THAT much better than Bute's.

2- It is part of Bute's contract with Showtime that the Bute - S6 winner fight is in neutral territory. Bédard said that whoever wins the tourney wouldn't agree to fight in Montreal, and you'll agree with him, I think.

3- Every time someone says an american should fight outside the US, people say "Hey, that's where the money is. It's a business" But when a foreigner doesn't fight in the US, he's hiding in his hometown. Textbook double standard.

The guy issuing the challenge "chases" the guy hes challenging, challenging someone then just shrugging and fighting a 45 year old because they didn't instantly go "yes sir!" and jump to your weight division is an EMPTY THREAT. Pascal himself all but spelled it out that he didn't really give a **** whether the fight happens or not, exactly the same as Bute.

Your argument to cancel this out seems to be your belief that pascal is absolutely superior to the degree that bute was obligated to move to a less competitive weight division and fight him on-demand, which is pure opinion and actually doesnt coincide with bute ranking higher on most p4p lists.

ultimately this is all semantics and my point was/is, bute is doing the best thing he can do right now considering he wasnt invited to the super 6 originally: fight the guys who didn't make it, and if he beats those, fight the super six winner. Who cares about jean pascal I wanna see who the absolute 168 champion is. Bute made the right choice.
