Hey do you do any martial arts? Why are so many martial artists condescending towards boxing? The worse is when they don't even fight at all and think their art is the best on in the world.Comment

Boxing is striking just like Karate, but the footwork, blocking, and overall punching is way more complex in boxing, which I think makes it a martial art just like karate or tae kwon do.
Just because you're striking is limited to only punching, doesn't make it less of a martial art. If anything, it makes it somewhat more technical due to the limited rules.
Not sure what you're asking me about Jiu-Jitsu?Comment

I would'n compare a Martial artist boxing style to a pure boxer..Martial artist boxing style is just one of its self defense. If his opponent is good at ground game then he will use his boxing style, and if his opponent is good at stand-up (boxing style) then he will use his ground game. And yes Martial arts is one of most well rounded self defense.Comment

If you say Martial art, its a well round skill, means you can use everything you learn including boxing style. Boxing is a different form of combat which you can only use your hands as your defense. And I would'n say its martial art. Just my opinion.Boxing is striking just like Karate, but the footwork, blocking, and overall punching is way more complex in boxing, which I think makes it a martial art just like karate or tae kwon do.

I don't see why boxing is not considered a Martial Art.
I remember taking self-defense when I was younger, and my instructor (who had multiple black-belts) loved boxing and actually utilized a lot of boxing techniques in his lessons.
Bruce Lee also loved and respected boxing and he believed the boxing stance was the most practical for him to use.
So it depends on who you talk to. There are just a lot of egos involved that think their art is the best.
Fair enough.
I just believe that boxing and traditional martial arts are pretty much on the same boat when it comes self-discipline, learning respect, mind and body control and so forth.Comment

I agree.
Based on their attitudes and physical condition (most are overweight), I would not consider them mixed martial artists or even healthy in general.
