It is a martial art as I understand martial arts as a form of self defense built on some kind of foundation of principle theory which takes plenty of time and practice to become good at.

"martial art" means pretty much any designed combat system or style so of course boxing is a martial art, ive never heard anyone say it isnt

however you have to admit culturally boxing is kind of the ugly smelly kid of martial arts, what with half the fighters beating up their wives or being coke addicts

the stance the fans have - that was should still love some ****bag like monzon or ibeabuchi "because of what they did in the ring" no matter what they did outside of it, thats always alienated the sport from other combat sports, and sports in general

Of course boxing is a martial art.

Anyone who doesn't think is self righteous.

Boxing also teaches self-control and respect for your opponent, 2 main standards in a martial art.

Ike Turner and and The Mayweather family think it's a marital art and not a martial art.

"Boxers have no discipline" I have never heard that and will never hear that again in my life I boxed for 5 years and what comes to mind is discipline and courage.

I would'n say Boxing is martial arts tho... If you put kick on it then its martial arts....and if its pure boxing (all hands) then its called hand to hand combat..

His opinion on fighting is worthless if he can't even prove anything.

Punching or kicking isn't allowed in Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, but they are considered Martial Arts.
