I struggle to take these too seriously because I simply find too many people vote with what they want in these things.

Whoever the top american at the time is, he's hyped to the point a large majority favour him over a more proven great.

Even just with Calzaghe, you've got Lacy, Pavlik, Dawson, each of whom have either lost to Calzaghe or someone lower in terms of ranking. Now Dawson's lost it's Ward. Goes to show it's just passing the mantle round for whom people want to believe would win rather than actually would.

Sorry but soooo much of Ward's hype and big expectations is based purely on the Kessler win.

I'm not even sure I'd pick Ward over Hopkins right now, and he's 2 years older than when he lost to Joe.

Stylistically, Ward would struggle to hit and hold Calzaghe in his prime.

Remember that the Joe Calzaghe that fought Hopkins was at 175 where it was also his first time, and Hopkins literally acted in the ring.

Calazghe's fake credibility lies with the one sided beat down of a hype job, unproven titlist and passed it legends? What has he done to gain any earnest merit?

Let me tell you this, you definitely know someone's close to being a boxing fraud when they're being compared to someone that's fought half as much as they have, yet taken on near enough the same level of competion.

        End of thread.

Hopkins Calzaghe ended in a stalemate, sure he got the official SD win, but its debated.

Yes you can argue resume, but if you put both in the ring, I personally think that a 168 Calzaghe would win.

                    Oh, don't they just?

If you think Ward isn't possessed of far more dimensions than Lacy, Pavlik and even Dawson (who is great at what he does, but he doesn't do it all), you're nuts.

Some of us expected big things of Ward before he beat Kessler, because we knew what he could do, and predicted he would arrive in style against Kessler. In your deluded mind, Calzaghe can't be beaten by anyone shy of SRR. So what do you base Calzaghe's invincibility on? Oh, yeah, his win over Kessler, because it sure can't be how he looked against Hopkins, LMAO.

Who cares if he's American? Ward has everything in his toolkit to give Calzaghe fits. Deal with it.

Ward will send a prime Calzaghe packing into an early retire with 20 grams of ******* just for good measure.
                      Fail.

Ward is not as strong as Bika and not as dirty. Hopkins has a much better defence, better accuracy, timing and ring generalship. Ward is faster, so what? I don't remember speed ever giving Joe a problem, he just had trouble hitting Hopkins because of his really tight defence.
