Was Floyd Mayweather A Wasted Talent?

Floyd has huge talent and could have produced some of the best fights. Instead he chose to avoid fighters, take the easy way out, and even retire in his prime. We the public added to that fire. We chose to pay for his lack luster fights. Never again.Comment

i'd like to know who the 1 million idiots are who bought mayweather-marquez. confess people!Comment

A #1 welterweight who was 38 years old and who hadn't fought in 2 years. And whose last fight that gave him that ranking was against a weight drained cheater who couldn't cheat(though mayweather didn't know that yet). And whose last 3 fights prior to that, he looked like garbage in. Mayorga especially.
I didn't mention Marg, if you're gonna quote me, at least read what I wrote, and ever since i joined this website I never said Hatton was blown up. I gave floyd credit for that win. And I'm not focused on the timetable because floyd could have waited and then signed. If he can take a 1 year vacation to avoid pacquiao, why can't he wait a few months to GET a fight that proves he's as good as declares himself? What, is floyd God? He can just see a fight in his mind, and know that he's gonna win without actually fighting, and then he just declares himself better than sugar ray leonard, muhammad ali, marvin hagler etc because of that?
Is floyd the only boxer in the world that doesnt have to fight to prove himself? Because that's what you guys are telling me.
Pac was still considered a lightweight- like marquez was, which is what made that fight compelling, because Hatton had the physical advantage.
And i'm not talking about Pacquiao's career, i'm talking about floyd's. Wether or not pac cherry picked has no impact on Floyd blatantly cherry picking.Comment

but he wasn't. pacquiao surpassed mosley in the rankings. ring magazine which is owned by golden boy even had pac ahead of mosley. plus aren't you supposed to be dropped from the rankings after a year of inactivity?Comment

Fact is, he was #1 at WW and had DOMINATED Marg. How was Marg weight drained? His last 8 fights before that were at WW. Are you saying he was weight drained in those fights too? Give him credit where it's due.
I agree that he shouldn't have fought JMM, but as I've said it was a tune-up and there really weren't all that many options for him at that time.
I'm not even a Floyd fan, but you're discrediting what are good wins.
Hatton was undefeated and looked good coming into Floyd, again I don't see how someone could discredit that win, other than being biased.
If the cherry picking was blatant, I wouldn't be defending Floyd. As I said I'm not a fan of the guy.Comment

You got a link for that? I knew Pac was top of the p4p rankings but I thought Shane was still #1 at WW before the fight. Either way Floyd fought the best available and everyone was agreed on that until Floyd dismantled Shane.Comment
