When he fought Hatton, He could have fought Margarito, Cotto , A closer to prime Mosley, or Williams, but he didn't

He could have fought Winky Wright or Vernon Forrest too but that never happened either.

I'm not saying anything about his earlier career, because he was spectacular, and his wins against corralles and castillo, and other featherweight achievements, I respect him for.

But still, the fact is, after he became a star, he hasn't, and STILL won't fight the best.

The best are still all fighting each other, and floyd is still not- he just claims to be above them all even though he hasn't fought a single one except an old mosley.

        quite the opposite me thinks

a good talent who picked his fights, milked every ounce of himself for those fights, and on paper looks amazing and pretends like none of it was a big deal

then again, whos to say that in itself isnt a major skill in boxing?

The 'old' Mosley is getting old now, if he didn't take the fight people would be giving him endless amount of crap right now. 'Prime' Mosley was offered to fight Mayweather but he turned it down. Rbgnwo I hope you're not referring to Margarito as the best.. I've not seen you once criticized the Pac-Marg fight, its only fair since you say Mayweather fought an old Mosley.. virtually the same Mosley who beat the living hell out of a prime Margarito. And please do not go into how Margarito was 'weight drained' or 'wasn't ready'. Btw Pac wanted Mosley at 142... rofl.

Please, don't even tell me Martinez and Williams were bigger fights at the time of the Mosley fight. Mosley was the #1 Welterweight going into that, don't try and discredit that win.

As for JMM, Marg was banned, Cotto had only fought Clottey a couple months before and Bradley was nowhere near ready for Floyd at that point. People would only say Bradley is a blown up 140lb 'er anyway. The JMM fight was a tune-up after the long layoff.

Most people wanted to see the Hatton fight. Didn't Pac fight Hatton 18 months later?

Exactly, I remember people saying 'Floyd will never fight Shane, he's a b*tch'. Floyd fought him and now it's 'Shane was old, he should have fought someone else'. Floyd can't win either way.

How does a fighter who becomes (at least for a short time) the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world be labled a "wasted talent"?

I'm not a Floyd fan, but give the guy credit.

A #1 welterweight who was 38 years old and who hadn't fought in 2 years. And whose last fight that gave him that ranking was against a weight drained cheater who couldn't cheat(though mayweather didn't know that yet). And whose last 3 fights prior to that, he looked like garbage in. Mayorga especially.

I didn't mention Marg, if you're gonna quote me, at least read what I wrote, and ever since i joined this website I never said Hatton was blown up. I gave floyd credit for that win. And I'm not focused on the timetable because floyd could have waited and then signed. If he can take a 1 year vacation to avoid pacquiao, why can't he wait a few months to GET a fight that proves he's as good as declares himself? What, is floyd God? He can just see a fight in his mind, and know that he's gonna win without actually fighting, and then he just declares himself better than sugar ray leonard, muhammad ali, marvin hagler etc because of that?

Is floyd the only boxer in the world that doesnt have to fight to prove himself? Because that's what you guys are telling me.

Pac was still considered a lightweight- like marquez was, which is what made that fight compelling, because Hatton had the physical advantage.

And i'm not talking about Pacquiao's career, i'm talking about floyd's. Wether or not pac cherry picked has no impact on Floyd blatantly cherry picking.

Still an ATG in my opinion, but he is about 30 spots lower than his talent and skill would indicate.
Who was the best at 147???

Cotto and Margarito were never the best at any weight.
