Chavez is easily the most overrated.

Hell he was still fighting drunks from the local bars in Mexico around the time he got his 70th win.

Chavez might of been a little overated, But Duran might be underated IMO. The guys was nasty at lightweight, he fought the best out there he beat Esteban Dejesus who was nasty, and he fought all the best. How can you say that Duran was overated when he moved up to Middleweight when the Middleweight division has Ray Leornard, Hagler and Hearns?...As far as defense Duran was a master at sliping punches..he would roll with the punches. I think he is the best lightweight that ever lived..

This needs clarification for everyone bringing up 'No Mas' fight. Don't forget Chavez quit too against DeLahoya. So dont use the 'No Mas" fight against Duran unless you will take into consideration that Chavez quit too.

in that fight, chavez quit on his stool between rounds. duran did it in the middle of the fight and he OPENLY quit. chavez didnt want to take anymore punishment, duran was just too frustrated to continue on... what a *****, both of em.

The only people who overrate Chavez are the guys who say that he was the greatestfighter ever and would have KOed Ray Robinson.

Both are legends and were extremely good fighters. They fought and beat some of the best.

Duran as it is, is one of the 5 or 10 greatest fighters ever depending on criteria. Complete fighter at lower weights and a warrior at higher weights.

Next time a fighter starts his career out at bantamweight, moves up to welterweight to beat another one of the sports greatest fighters ever in a classic fight, and then moves up to middleweight to beat a world class fighter...that's the time when you dummies can call Duran overrated.
