Why all the Bute's hate and Ward's lovefest.

    Some facts:

In june 2007, he win a IBF eliminator fight against Sakio Bika for the IBF #1 contender and obligatory aspirant.

    In October 2007
, he KO Alejandro Berrio in the 11th round to win the IBF SMW title.

    In February 2008
, he win a fight against William Joppy, at that time, it was a good and big fight for Bute, it was his first defence of the title against a 3-times World Champion.

In October 2008, he win a controversial fight against Librado Andrade. It was his 2nd defence, against a fighter who is considerate by many a brawler with an iron chin and good work ethic. First of all, I'm biased, its true, but ITS A FACT, if you re-watch the fight, Bute dominated the whole fight AND another FACT, at 7-8 seconds, Bute's glove doesn't touch the floor, even if the count was way too long, Bute was already up, gloves not on the floor, VS Brinkley the refs did the same thing to Brinkley giving him a long count and nobody is whining about that.

In March 2009, he win a fight against Zuniga. Its the first fight, that I agree, was a bad fight for Bute, he could have fight a bigger name or a better up and comer, he KO Zuniga in the 4th.

In November 2009, he KO Librado Andrade and did knock him down early in the fight, something that was never seen from Andrade before. Bute clearly win this fight, the Andrade-Bute saga needed a rematch and it was clearly a good fight and not cherry picking.

In April 2010, he won against Mirdan, he did toyed with Edison pretty quickly in the fight and Bute looked really sharp. Miranda is a big name, some could argue he is a shot fighter, he is still powerful and many many people here on boxingscene said Miranda would win and was too powerful for Bute. Good fight.

In October 15, he fights Brinkley, it was a bad fight for Bute, a lot to lose and nothing to win, since Brinkley is a second tier SMW fighter.

Lucian Bute only defended his title 6 times, twice vs Andrade which were 2 good fights. We can all say he had 2 out of his 6 defence against lower tier SMW, but a lot of champion had to fight defence of their title against lower class fighter.

I don't know we he gets so much crap on here, his fight are entertaining, the doesn't fight like a coward and only clinch-hold all the time. He is active, with power and speed.

He is only 30 years old, in good shape, had fight against good boxer, he still have plenty of time to defend his title against bigger name.

When they started the Super-6, they didn't wanted to include him in. They said he wasn't a big name enough or good enough.. SO big FU to them after.

And to anyone who said he ducked Jean Pascal. Why a SMW fighter, with 6 titles defence, would drop his belt and go up in a heavier division when he didn't fighter for unification yet and can fight bigger name in the 168lbs division.

For the whole province of Quebec, its better to get way more hype for the boxing here with 2 World Champion, than juste one, promoters are starting to recognize Montreal has a boxing city, the fight will happens in 2011 or 2012, but right now its not a good thing, the loser of the fight will lose the spotlight and the interest from the local fans.

you have made a good point in the part I have highlighted

why rush them into a fight ? let the fight brew, let both get bigger, better, the anticipation and the event will only be bigger

meanwhile, they have plenty of challenges ahead in their own divisions

    the fans are too impatient

Really good fighter but Andre Ward is SO much better... Yet nobody can bring any argument. Aside he won a fight against Kessler.

Aside being afro-american, I don't see anything in Ward's favor for a fight between those two.

Neither will fight each other, both want home-court advantages.

It's whiteboy against darknight man. Ward is supposed to be the next Mayweather or something, Bute is not even American. There you have it in a nutshell....wish it were different but this is America...race means something here. Even if he were American, Ward would still be better than Bute, perception-wise. HBO or Showtime would not hype a white guy up as a star....a star athlete. Good athletes are stereotypically African American or Latino, whites don't fit the "mold".

****Just take the Klitschkos for example.....HBO, Showtime, ESPN won't even show their fights on TV.

Because a win over Kessler is bigger then anything Bute's done in his life. Not to mention Ward's in a tournament fighting the best in the world at his weight while Bute is fighting bums.
