wheres the money?
bob uram is right, fighters get paid acording to there ability to sell tickets not on the quality of the fighter. pro boxing is a buisness first and a sport second, its not always fare but thats the way it is. hbo took a gamble on berto and it looks like they lost. cotto and chavez jr good or bad make arum money and that is the bottom line.on a positive note boxers who are talented and provide the general public with great fights while winning sooner or later are rewarded with the big money fights.

There simply isn't enough money to make the fight.
Berto may take 35%. That's possible. But what is HBO gonna put up? 3.5 mill? That would make Berto's pay day $1.25 million, roughly. He made more against Quintana.
You can bet your ass that he's gonna want more money against Cotto than he made against Quintana.
Unless HBO REALLY wants the fight and puts up $4 million for it, I don't see the fight happening.
Fun Fact: Only WCB HBO put up $4 million for(to my knowledge)--Hopkins vs. Calzaghe.
Margarito vs Mosley

This reminds me of what Dibella said about a couple months ago in regards to Caballero willing to lower his purse demands when it comes to fighting Gambos and Juan Ma. But the nuthuggers of those two guys keep saying Cab is pricing himself out. At least we heard his promoter say he's willing to be reasonable. Same thing here.
Although I will concede that we need to hear something from Caballero and Berto personally if you want me to be fair.

so basically what all u guys are saying is your more worried about your fav fighter making more money or a fighter u dont like making less money than you are about seeing a good fight???? smh...
berto vs. cotto is a good fight and 60-40 or 70-30 is a good split. the fight shouldnt be halted just because of that ****. i dont understand this ****...u bash berto for making a mill but then u wanna bash him for actually trying to earn it too???

This is all BS! Put the fight on ppv. Let cotto allegedly carry it and give berto a flat rate or a percentage of the revenue. The shyt is simple. The draw between the 2 is obvious so it wont be hard at all.
To say upfront b4 negotiations start is more TR bs that you idiots eat up with a shytty smile.
BOTTOMLINE:
Cotto aint fighting a live dog outside of TR d/t his dwindling hype. Never a good fighter but would never get exposed by outside talent. Berto = outside live talent with a mean uppercut and heart.
They dont want it with berto. PERIOD!
