Cotto has already turned down Berto this year. People love to be revisionist when when the facts aren't in their favor, so here's the truth:

Cotto "Not Interested" in Berto, Vanes Could Be in Play - Boxing News
    www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=29564

Truth is, Bob Arum and friends are prepairing for an all Top Rank affair in 2011, and Cotto's just fine with that. So I doubt Cotto and Berto will fight each other next, even if the money from HBO is right.

There simply isn't enough money to make the fight.

Berto may take 35%. That's possible. But what is HBO gonna put up? 3.5 mill? That would make Berto's pay day $1.25 million, roughly. He made more against Quintana.

You can bet your ass that he's gonna want more money against Cotto than he made against Quintana.

Unless HBO REALLY wants the fight and puts up $4 million for it, I don't see the fight happening.

Fun Fact: Only WCB HBO put up $4 million for(to my knowledge)--Hopkins vs. Calzaghe.
That was a really good point. Also people should stop pretending that gate money is the biggest factor in determining purses. It's not 1930. Berto can't draw at the gate, but he's been on HBO numerous times, and the HBO audience and boxing world knows who he is, and will watch. With no May vs Pac, Cotto vs Berto would have been one of the biggest fights this year. Cotto should get the lions share, but Berto should get about a third. It's funny to see people defending Arum's all Top Rank plans, which would screw Berto out of a major fight, and then b!!!!ing that Berto doesn't fight anyone.

I haven't followed bertos career but I do know he holds a belt but seems to be fighting guys that are hardly household names. I would have thought if he as that confident in himself he would take less money for an opportunity to move his career a few levels further forward rather then dining off HBO and fighting guys that hardly sell out arenas , it's a false economy when HBO pay more money then you would bring through sales and leads fighters to avoid taking a risk to the eAsy money they know they will be paid for fighting lower quality opponents. Berto needs to step up and start fighting some of the big names before he believes his own hype. Someone earlier on wrote he reminds them of floyd taking the easy fights, hopefully steps up and earns his keep

da **** does that gotta do with anything?? im not saying he deserves 50%. but 30% does not make the fight undoable. that makes no ficking sense and thats an excuse. ur too dumb to realize that then wait for ****ing angulo and/or jcc jr to make about the same amount as ur saying berto shouldnt make.

either that or let cotto get his head bashed in by williams/martinez because he cant beat either of those guys for 50%.

But what baffles the hell out of me is people give Cotto a pass for fighting guys like Gomez, Jennings, Foreman, and Chavez Jr. just because of the good opponents he's fought. And some of Berto's opponents like Urango and Collazo are better than those b-level guys on Cotto's resume and people give him shit for it. Double standards to me. I fuckin hate Berto too, but I'm just recognizing real.
You idiot!!! It's not a double standard when Cotto's fought Malignaggi, Zab Judah, Chop Chop Corley, Sugar Shane Mosle, Margarito and Pacquiao... In other words, Cotto has paid his dues so if he wants to fight a bum on occasion to fattened his wallet a bit, he has all the right to do so.

Now please give me a list of fighters other than Urango and Collazo that Berto has fought???? NONE... All bums... The high light of Berto's career so far was Collazo and Urango..... Big ****kin deal...... Berto doesn't deserve to be in the same room as Cotto.... Now go ****kkkk yourself... LOL
