I'm not doubting he could make the weight, I just think its bad to spend most of your camp cutting the weight so fast.

Its not good for the body, I don't care what justifications people make for it. I'm shocked he's even at 176 tbh, I thought 176 would be where he'd start his camp at.

That probably means he was probably 190 when the fight got signed.

    Not good man.

Losing 20 Pounds in 30 days is not easy. Period. It doesnt matter if you are Martinez or Michael Phelps. Its not easy. Then on top of that he still has too actually TRAIN for Pauls style and then actually fight the guy.

Martinez is making it harder for himself by being almost 180 pounds 30 days away.
I'm not saying he is making it easy on himself or taking the best approach but his genes aren't everyone else's genes. I know people who never work out ever, but if you had to guess, you would think they work out everyday of the week. Some people can do that and some can't. I'm just saying that he knows his body better than anyone else

        No doubt......

        BUT

His opponent arguably has the best workrate and stamina in all of boxing. And a hard style and pace to deal with. Martinez being this heavy cant bode well for his stamina which gave him trouble in the first fight.

Like jack said Im thinking 176 is where Martinez would start his camp at.

        • Didn't Martinez move up for the first fight?

I wonder what he had to lose the first time around?

This is also the first time they have done this pre fight weight thing a month before the fight and advertised it for Martinez because it is perceived as the biggest fight of his career or whatever. For all we know, he loses 20 pounds or 15 pounds a month out every time out...why would he do something detrimental to his success in the biggest fight of his career and not even seem concerned about it? I highly doubt he is taking Williams lightly either...just saying....it would not even seem logical to do that and he seems like a pretty dedicated guy, I'm sure he knows what he is doing.
Thiaint considered the biggest fight of his career Mathed. That was the Pavlik fight. Most think that Serg won the 1st fight and will easily win the 2nd fight(Not I). I see Serg gettin caught up in his new found celeberty status. And this could hurt him. Paul has shown that if he looks bad in the 1st fight he comes out ready to dispell those thoughts in his 2nd go around. Paul aint gonna be an easier fight for Serg this time around.

I got points put um up bruh.

            • At 35 that weight will get harder to take off. Everyone cant be Hopkins.

              • Serg is gonna be ok ppl...hes a naturally big jmw, otherwise he wouldnt have been able to transition to middleweight so easily. anyways i dont get why this matters, if he ****s up his trining camp, i guarantee u he wont be the one making excuses.

now if he comes out and looks dead in the fight, we kno what happened. if he comes out scorching tho, this concern for something he does regularly is unnecessary. i put more faith in him knowing his body than i do in ppl who think this is too much for him.

You get NO arguement from me on this Burner. I think it's more of a deal than folks wanna think that Serg is THIS heavy THIS close to the fight. Now I doubt that he's gonna come in over weight, but I do think this a henderance for him. Paul has alot to prove to folks. 1st. he has the 1st fight to dispell. 2nd he has the Cintron fight to dispell as well. I think Paul's gonna come out to trap Serg and make the ref stop the bout. Look for Paul to bumsrush Serg, and Serg not be nimble enough to keep shakin and movin for 9 rounds(He tends to gas late in fights and take rounds off).

I got points on Paul, on the real.

                  • Are there any pics of this weigh in because that sounds extremely high for him and by looking at him he doesn't look like he would be that heavy. Was he wearing clothes during this and who knows if he came in just after eating a meal? It may in reality might not be as much to lose as it sounds but there is so much info we are lacking.
