Something tells me he wouldn't Paul is fighting for the lineal Middleweight championship at a catchweight (Not that I have any problem with it, in fact I understand his thought process, just asking for consistency).

    Period.

Anyway, this is a big advantage for Paul. Sergio could've won both the first fight with Williams and Pavlik with ease if he didn't gas in the middle rounds, that might be a problem again in November.

    • If Sergio wants to kill himself to lose that 20 lbs I'm all for it.

      That means I get 12 million e-points.

Paul can talk all he wants about those fights. They ain't happening. And you know this is true.
Fair enough but I can hold out hope...lol.

I dont know about with ease. Even when he wasnt breathing hard Paul was tagging him.

This certainly doesnt help his case for beating Williams. I hope Paul knocks him the **** out.

I think the opposite. His game is based on movement. Williams is going to test his stamina again.
I think he will try to have a power advantage by using the weight. If he has been training for weeks now, I can't see how his stamina will be worse than it was when he only trained for a month total for the first fight. That Margarito video last week and the footage that they showed on the 24/7 thing the other night, showed Martinez. He looked just as fit as he always does, he sure didn't look like some blown up Ricky Fatton as people are suggesting. Dude must have a lot of muscle on him because his face is really lean and his jaw muscles are very pronounced. This likely means that he is a mesomorph, meaning that he can lose weight very easily as well as gain muscle with ease. I think most, if not all of his weight comes from pure muscle.

I don't know about what advantages the weight will give him but maybe he thinks it will help him hurt Williams easier based on how hard he hit him in the first fight.

It allows him to have the best workrate in boxing. It caused major problems for Martinez in the last fight. Even Martinez said that.

His non stop punching will win him the fight. Again.

Sergio gassed out last time because of Pauls pace. There were long stretches in the fight where he did nothing but backpedal and take jabs to the face.

I would bet points but you have none.

We can do an avy and sig bet of our choice. Penalty 6 months.
Williams workrate would be a problem for anyone, it aint sayin much. There were even longer stretches where Paul was hitting thin air and Sergio was cracking him with clean punches. Sergio didnt "gas out", he still won at least 2 of the championship rounds on my card.

              I'll bet whatever

              • With Cotto-Chavez fighting in the Spring, Pacquiao-Williams in May makes the most sense out of any possible fight financially and otherwise. Paul insisting on going back to 147 tells me he knows something the general public doesn't, maybe his promoter has had talks with Arum and it may be a possibility. Paul himself thinks even though he doesn't have the vagina required to fight Floyd, Pacquiao might step up and give him a chance. Plus Paul is easy to hit, especially by other southpaws and he doesn't use his height so he's probably as much of a threat as Margarito- who is more technically sound (not saying much), has great stamina (like Paul), with a better chin (even though Punisher has a solid jaw).

For a guy who's 5'6"ish, what's the difference between fighting someone 5'11" and 6'2"? He's dwarfed by both and they outdo him significantly in reach... but they're very easy to hit and would/will struggle mightily with Pac's speed, movement, and power.

I'm not rooting for one over the other, I like both guys. I'm just hoping their next fight is even half as great as the first

                  • Martinez has said on coutless of different interviews that he has to eat a lot and be overweight because of how easily he loses weight so this is extremely normal for him. He is a strict professional every article written on him speaks of how his training camp is better than ever, so he is going to make weight, and beat Williams without any problem.

                      You nailed it right there.

Williams will be sparring lefties like Q and Collazo and Martinez will be eating kangaroo meat and running.

Like I said his stamina is already bad. This aint a good look for him ESPECIALLY vs a guy with the kind of conditioning Paul has.
This is insane. I don't care how you slice it, Sergio shouldn't be that high at this point. If that's the norm for him, good for him. But still, it's a lot to lose in 30 days.

If it were 15 pounds, or 10 pounds, then yeah, it'd be acceptable. But 20 pounds sounds like he's pushing it.

I wonder if his recent outings against Williams and Martínez got to his head. I've been rooting for Martínez since his fight with Williams, but if Paul pulls off the victory, I'll be a fan of his for sure.
