    Cuban heavyweaight prospect Luis Ortiz.

be on the lookout for this guy, he's 4-0 with 3 knockouts. in his last two fights he's beaten veteran kendrick releford and just yesterday he stopped very durable journeyman zack page in the 8th round, ortiz stopped page for the first time in 4 years and was only the 3rd person to do so. Ortiz amateur record is a shockingly good 343(w)-19(L). He doesn't get as much exposure as the other cubans but i believe he will make ATLEAST the same impact fellow cuban solis will make if not more of an impact. Ortiz is a southpaw with good handspeed good power and he is all around very sound and versatile. he's 6'4 and weighs in at about 233 most of the time. he just turned pro 8 months ago and has already defeated a couple solid journeyman in just 4 professional fights. here's some sparring and amateur footage of him.

Ortiz sparring Oliver Mccall: (this was before he even made his pro debut)

He's one of the best heavyweight prospects.

I reckon he'll have an impact in the division during the next year - good to see they are matching him with decent opposition and having him fight frequently, so he'll remain sharp.

'Mike' Perez is another Cuban heavy prospect I'm looking forward to in the future.

Its like watching a great High School baseball player, you know He could make it, but its to early to tell because there's thousands of obstacles waiting to happen. Good example would be the "Sugar" movie.
          I wish him, Good luck

Yes, he's a good prospect, I hope he doesn't go the Solis (getting fatter every fight) way.

i like perez too, but i think hes too small for the division.

ortiz is probably my favorite heavy prospect but whatever move hes planning on making he better do it fast. hes already 31 y/o.

a couple of us discussed him a few months back prior to the releford fight.he looks to have potential.a win over kendrick that early in his career is a step in the right direction for sure.i posted a thread about him awhile back.he is definately a guy to keep your eye on.

I agree with you guys...I just came across him recently surprisingly...and what took me back was his amateur record at first. his style somewhat reminds me of erislandy lara...i think he is even a better all around than lara though. i honestly believe if he were stuck in with a solid top 15 opponent right now he would prevail. he's on the right track though defeating Zack Page and Releford in impressive fashion so early on in his pro career.
