He would have been stripped if he hadn't taken the fight, and his credibility would have been shot. He had no choice. He deserves all the props in the world if he wins, but he doesn't deserve any props at all for taking the fight.Comment

The good thing about deceptive titles is that it identifies those that just read the headline
The article sounds like a rehash of a video interview Maidana gave that was posted here a couple of weeks ago. I was very impressed by the way he carries himself. He seemed super focused and like he wasn't messing aroundComment

I hope maidana doesnt go in there with the intention of head hunting and just relying on his power. If thats the case then amir will walk all over him and box his head off for all 12 rounds.
Maidana needs to control the pace and keep amir of balance. Maidana should cut of the ring and try and corner amir either on the ropes or in the corner where maidana can unload some bombs on amirs chin. The key is making amir fight at maidana pace and effectivly controlling the distance. It will be a very very hard fight for both fighters but one i am looking forward for.
But Maidana has got to work the body, almost exclusively, in order to take away Khan's legs and look to work him to the ropes later in the fight.Comment

Khan will stick and move as he should, why should he stand and fight with someone who has more Power, he can out-box Maidana EASY but he is right all it takes is one punch to either KO Khan or at least slow him down
Maidana shouldn't even try to chase the KO...at least not right away, I think he should go to the body early in the fight, Khan is a HEADHUNTER and he is taller which means he leaves his body open A LOT and you can get inside, so if you catch him with a few good body shots early I guarantee it will slow down those Jabs
Also, Maidana is very strong mentally.
He will get up off the floor, and go straight back to work.
He needs to take Khan places he hasn't been, just like he did to Vic.
He needs to turn this into a war of attrition, but he's got to target the body first in order to do that.Comment

IMHO Maidana only has a small punchers chance in this fight, although I am really looking forward to it, it should be great.

If Khan gets a knock-down that will be very dangerous time for him. He tends to get over-excited and wild when he thinks his opponent is hurt, and if he does that against Maidana, he's likely to get knocked out himself. Hopefully Roach will be stressing that to him. Khan needs to stick to the game plan for every minute of every round in order to win.Last edited by Dave Rado; 10-19-2010, 12:48 AM.Comment
