Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr: Pacquiao Could Be My Opponent Next Year

WBC silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says a possible fight with Manny Pacquiao, in 2011, was the reason he ruled out a trip to the Philippines to spar with the Filipino fighter. Both Pacquiao and Chavez are trained by Freddie Roach and promoted by Top Rank. Chavez, according to reporter Ricardo Lois, made the statement to Mexican news outlet Notimex. People seem to think that Arum isn't actually pulling strings and setting this **** up. I already put it out there that he sabotaged the Mayweather fight (subsequently getting people to think he actually tried to negotiate with the help of the braggadocios idiot himself).

JCC Jr. isn't delusional, he isn't pulling this out of his ass. The same way Arum promised Margarito a Pacquiao fight, he must've done the same with Jr. And if he beats Cotto, you better be damn sure this fight is coming next (why do you think Arum wanted the Cotto fight this year for the kid?).

Arum won't be getting this fight when he wants, which was next, but he will work his magic and get the kid into position. If the Mayweather fight doesn't come next, it'll be 2012 before we even can hope of the actually trying to negotiate it.

I think if us fans had to sit through another year of a Pac vs. May negotiation drama series we would all just be tired of it by 2012...

I mean really, If Floyd wanted that fight he is his own boss PERIOD..

And as a Pac fan over Floyd fan I would love for Pac to just go on record during a post fight interview or press con and say "I want to fight Floyd Mayweather" without having Bob Arum doing the match up for him...

If what you say is true and if by some miracle Jr. vs Pac does happen, Boxing is dead to me.

Between the Super 6 bull****, the Mayweather bull****, the Golden Boy vs. Top Rank bull****, and the Margarito-Pac bull****, I'm going to throw up my hands in disgust and just walk away.

Pacquiao shouldn't have to call out Floyd, although it seems as if Floyd wants to be publicly embarrassed to actually push for a tough fight (ala Mosley).

What Pacquiao should do is tell Arum that he won't fight until he gets him Mayweather and won't be fighting anyone else until then. That way, Arum will actually try to make the fight, perhaps even pulling him off negotiations will work.

I can't really blame you, but after watching all the great fight this November and December. It'll be hard for people not to become absolute hardcore fans. It will be special.
