No the doctor stopped the fight, he didn't retire Vitaly, it was Vitaly who made Lewis retire. Lewis asked Vitaly to meet him and his mom and then after she looked into VItaly's eyes, her little boy retired - true story.

The Byrd fight was questionable. Vitali quit in a fight he was dominating.

But the Lewis fight was a clear loss. Sure Vitali was ahead, but Lewis would have rip his eye if they fought one more round.

If you want to get technical, Lewis took the Vitali fight on short notice as a replacement for Kirk Johnson, who was a lot smaller and a totally different style than Vitali.

Lewis would have won a rematch. Byrd on the other would have got beat in a rematch like he should have the first time around.

But still 2 legit losses.
