400k for a world Heavyweight title fight is a ridiculous low-ball and I'm not surprised that Tua felt insulted by it and walked away from the discussion. If you could get 300k per fight to fight a succession of tomato cans whom you know you can beat easily, or 400k to be knocked out and humiliated by the best Heavyweight in the sport, which would you choose? The differential between fighting a tomato can and fighting the lineal world champion is usually at least x 10, and certainly not x 1.3. That offer really was obviously counter-productive if Wlad genuinely wanted to fight Tua. Anyone in Tua's position would have turned it down and would have found it insulting. ****** offer to make.

Plus Tua is rather ridiculously and corruptly ranked the #2 contender by the WBO, which means he only has to sit tight and keep reasonably active and he'll eventually be Wlad's mandatory. At that point, he'll get well over $1 million for the fight.

OTOH, Tua has done nothing in recent years to justify being given a title shot, is only ranked #40 by boxrec (about the same as Audley Harrison), and is certainly not a worthy opponent for Wlad. Even Chisora is a far more worthy opponent than Tua at this point. So rather than low-ball him, Wlad should just have told Tua that he would have to fight some meaningful opponents before he could be considered for a title shot. Except that the corrupt WBO rankings mean that Tua will get his shot sooner or later (and a greater than $1 million payday), whatever Wlad does.

      1. He takes away another potential Haye challenger. By destroying Chisora he makes sure that Haye doesnt plan on fighting Chisora next December or whenever he will fight after Audley.

      2. He starts to at least get seen by more British people. I have to believe many will tune in to see the fight and the ones who dont will at least hear about it. This will provide bargaining power if the fight does well in England.
Yup, I'm sure that's what it's all about. Good post.

Don Charles is an idiot. Chisora is a decent fighter with a refreshing attitude who would go in with anybody right now, and he's improving all the time, but the Klitschkos are way beyond Del Boy's current capabilities. Chisora vs Fury would be a sensible match at this point.

The gap between Chisora and Fury is as great as the gap between Wlad and Chisora. That would be a great backward step. Chisora is ready to fight borderline contenders like Dimitrenko or Boytsov. He shouldn't be wasting his time with domestic journeymen.

Anyway, as long as he doesn't take a really bad beating, the fight with Wlad won't do him any harm and may do his profile a lot of good.

What is he supposed to say though? he isnt exactly going to say "I think Wlad will jab him to death"

Another bum for boring Wladimir "Jab Jab hold" Klitschko to stream roll.

Yawn, this is the worst HW era in living memory.
