Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has confirmed that former champion Andriy Kotelnik (34-4-1, 13KOs) is being considered as the opponent for Victor Ortiz (27-2-1, 27KOs) on December 4 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Ortiz-Kotelnik would be the HBO televised co-feature to Amir Khan's defense of the WBA title against mandatory challenger Marcos Maidana. The story was first reported by Ruslan Chikov of BoxingScene.com.
Khan vs Maidana - Maidana
Ortiz vs Kotelnik - Ortiz
Bradley vs Alexander - Bradley Judah vs Matthysse - Judah
i agree with all of them, but matthysse is going to **** judah. i just got a collection of matthysee past fights. the dude is stronger and better boxer then maidana. i think judah is gana get koed.
kotelnik's biggest advantage isnt his size. he comes in big on fight night but so does ortiz.
ortiz is a ww fighting at 140 (or close to it). ortiz is one of the biggest JWW's as well, so size isnt really an advantage for either fighter.
kotlenik's biggest advantage is either his shield defense or his timing.
hes like the clottey of the 140 division, but he can be out-boxed and can be outworked.
ortiz needs to outbox him and beat on his gloves, arms and body til kotelnik's defense is weakened and he's forced to take more chances.
I was talking about Kotelniks advantages in general. And that's his size. He's a dense fighter come fight night which makes his defense look extremely solid. But I doubt he even had to make weight for the Maidana fight. He was ridiculously bigger than Maidana that night and Maidana still made it a close fight, which is actually a testament to Maidana's fight game. I agree though, out of the top 140lb fighters right now I think Ortiz and Kotelnik are the biggest.
Definitely @ Ortiz having to beat on him, Ortiz is going to have to hit his body A LOT. If Ortiz pulls a Alexander and spends 80% of the fight hopping around on his toes and trying to look cute, Ortiz is gonna be fatigued come the 7th round and beyond, just like Alexander. That's when Kotelnik just uses his quick abc boxing to make you look foolish.
Ortiz has pop though, if he stops Kotelnik or even lays him out a few times, that would be awesome. lol I so can't wait for this fight.
He sure can,but will he??Kottie is a very well rounded fighter it's not going to be easy..I think Ortiz wins this because of his power, and Kottie's lack there of..But Kottie is a tough S.O.B. and will be there all night if there are any holes in Ortiz game it will be exposed..I got Ortiz by UD..
