Why Martinez can't fight Jean Pascal? Your asking Pacquiao to move two weight class again to fight Martinez? So I'm Asking Martinez to move two weight class to fight Jean Pascal.

Like I said Pacquiao reach his maximum weight. He can't go up anymore.

      • If you look. for the De La Hoya fight after that Diaz fight. He didn't even try to go all the way to 147. he went to 142 from 134 against diaz. Which is 8 pounds. That is a lot of weight but he was drained the last year he was at 130. Then he was 138 the next fight with Hatton. *****s and Haters act like he weighs 147. Thats not even it hes always way under the limit. After that year span he became a 140-147 lber fighter.

        • What can you say about an idiot who wants to see Pacquiao against a dude who comes in at 170 plus lol. They just do not want to give Manny his props for doing stuff that nobody has done in a long time and certainly nobody in this era of boxing. Floyd ducked and weaved his way to all those titles in different weight classes. Manny beating Margarito at 150 is a lot more greater than Floyd beating Oscar at 154. Oscar is one of the most over rated fighters in the history of boxing imo. God only knows how he lost all of his mega fights and yet he has made more money than all of those guys put together. Mosley, Hopkins, Trinidad and Floyd.

          • this topic has been covered already.

ever since pac was at 130, he's been coming in on fight night around 144-48. even at feather he was already at 140lbs on fight night.

the ignorant & ****** cant seem to figure out that pac is GOING UP IN DIVISION NOT WEIGHT.

His weight has been the same. no drastic change. He's basically fighting close at his normal walking around weight.

              Don't be so surprised.

These are the same morons who don't understand that weight class
is defined by a MAXIMUM WEIGHT, not minimum. Manny could actually
challenge Martinez for the latter's MW belt AND put his own JMW belt
on the line, so long as both weighed in at 154 or less.

I have zero doubt Pac would defeat Martinez, and give him respectable
odds of beating Floyd Jr. if they fight next year.

              • Haters will always find reasons to discredit Pacquiao's success.

This thread proved that the two reasons why Pacquiao drained himself in weight in the lower weight category were simply to fight the best as well the most popular fighters.

                Barrera
                Morales
                Marquez

From 2003-2008, he fought Barrera 2x, Morales 3x and Marquez 3x. It's not surprising that after defeating these fighters, he moved up in weight to test the "waters". His history of weight-draining during these 5 year period was already wearing him thin.

He fought David Diaz (WBC lightweight champion) because Arum did not want to share the earnings with GBP or other promoters.---reason: to make Pacquiao become more marketable as a fighter.

He fought Oscar de la Hoya (a naturally bigger but very popular fighter) mainly for money and to increase marketability. In fact, many boxing experts predicted the fight as one-sided in favor of Oscar. BTW it was not Pacquiao's fault that Oscar only weighed 147 lbs on fightnight--Oscar should have rehydrated himself to 155-160lbs in that fight boxing experts had earlier expected)-----Name other boxers who tried what Pacquiao did, i.e. fighting a naturally bigger fighter.

and then he fought Hatton, Cotto, Clottey and Margarito who were all naturally bigger than him. Again, can anyone name other boxers today who "dared" and "challenged themselves" to fight against bigger and heavier boxers?

Martinez and Margarito the same size

So he can fight for a title, but he cant defend his title?

This aint a weight thing. Its about a style thing

since Martinez and Margarito are the same size then I guess martinez can make 150 catch weight easily without hurting him.

Martinez is nowhere near the same size as margarito since he cant even make 147 without hurting himself while margarito is a career 147 fighter. That is why I don't get how people are ****** enough to say both fighters are the same size. Yes both are 5-11 but i hope you are not using that to compare sizes because they both are taller than Mike Tyson and have longer reach than him but we all know Iron mike tyson is far bigger.
