Yes and that makes it even more embarrassing that the guy he destroyed in 1 rd went on to achieve more than him and do something he NEVER did.

Whats the point of bringing up amateur fights?

yeah he definitely achieved more....losing the WBA title 3 times...once against a former middleweight

u wanna talk about titles and paper championships...thats not having a better resume...

the fighters on that resume are what count...

thats why julio cesar chavez jr undefeated in 42 fights isnt an atg...

Ruiz achieved more and has a better resume than Tua.
His wn in 01 against Holyfield is better than any win of Tuas career.
Ruiz also beat Rahman after Tua couldnt.
But I think Tua would have beat Ruiz 10 times out of 10.

I don't subscribe to this worst-HW-era ever stuff. It certainly isn't anywhere near as stacked as the nineties or even the early 2000s but it's not totally bereft of talent, just excitement and the right fights getting made. That Tua has never got one of the four belts isn't suprising given that both brothers have most of the belts under lockdown. Add to that the fact that he's been more or less shot for years, was always an extremely limited fighter and even if he had got a shot at, let's say, weak link Valuev, sometime around 2006-7 could you have ever in any way see him winning that one? Cripes, he would have literally had to throw tiger uppercuts whilst yelping like a little puppy in order to even hit Valuev in the groin.

I disagree with you there. The Ruiz KO was a freak event early in both guys' careers that totally altered Ruiz's style to the crowd pleasing one of later years. He would have had a greater chance of UD'ed Tua in any number of rematches than Tua would of repeating his feat.
