Yeah, he's a super great guy and all but all things considered Johnson makes no sense.
Those losses have come against top 175 lbers almost half his age (he was very competitive against Cloud), his most recent win was a stoppage of Yusuf Mack who is on par with Green as far as I'm concerned, and his last four fights have been televised either on HBO or ESPN - making him far more marketable (at least in the short term) than Bika, who has only been televised twice in the U.S. since winning the Contender back in 2007 (once on Versus and the other on a PPV undercard).

Regardless, it seems that Bika was approached (again) and understandably refused to participate because of the recent death of his father.

No way a 168 lb. Johnson KOs anybody, so his chances of advancing are nill.

This is interesting, I was really dissapointed in Green being knocked off the tourney because of Kessler. The guy entered the tourney with no points and was booted after one fight, and it wasnt even his fault. If this comes to pass it could make for an interesting match, Itll favor Green much more than the Ward fight did. Can Johnson keep his power and stamina going down?? Can Green make the weight comfortably, I remember him saying to Ward after the fight he needed to go up in weight...

If Glen can make 168 comfortabley then it could be fun.

But i say just let the final 4 battle it out, Green and whoever else come in are not original members of the Super 6 tournament so don't have much of a shot of winning. It's just putting someone in there for the sake of putting someone in there.

That could be true about Bika (RIP to his pops) but still, it seems like a huge gamble that johnson can even make 168 pounds at 40-41 years of age, especially considering the fact he's never fought lower than 175 in over 10 years.

If Bika is not available, they should look to the next guy in line at 168. If he's not available, on to the next and so on.

I mean, this entire tournament was supposed to be about putting the best 168 pound fighters in the ring together, not a 175 pound guy coming down in weight who isn't ranked.

Again, I got nothing against Johnson he's awesome and his career has been amazing imo, I just don't see the logic here.

I definitely agree with this, but when it comes to the politics of boxing I can understand the position they're in. Johnson is co-promoted by Dibella, who also promotes Green and Taylor, and has been involved in the tournament from the beginning. The only other "name" 168 lber you have associated with any promoter involved is Edison Miranda (Goosen Tutor)... and while I'd like to see Green finally get his rematch with Pantera, I don't think you can make a case for him to be in this tournament.

Outside of that you have Andrade with Golden Boy, who probably have no interest in Showtime's little tournament, and the other promoters likewise probably have no interest in dealing with Golden Boy. Then you have Sartison and Stieglitz, unknown to the U.S. audience now and likely forever given their promotion outfits.

So how far down the list do you go to find an available participant who can compete on the world level?
