I heard about this ten years ago and it was only recently when I read in an article that this wasn't true.

If I remember right, tommy was a good prospect during the time he appeared in rocky. It was well known during that time that he was a heavyweight fighter. That appearance in rocky helped propelled his boxing career but never got to win the more recognizable belts during that time, he won the WBO HW title which was looked downed to during that era.

he was considered the Great White Hope at that time.

Theres a lot of cameos and stuff in the Rocky movies. I think they tried to have Joe Frazier or Norton or someone play Clubber Lang, but it was a little too intense in the sparring or something.

That was Earnie Shavers ^^, he wouldn't go serious on Stallone and was just throwing light jabs in case he hurt him but when Stallone told him he could take anything that Shavers could throw he hit him square in the midsection and Stallone got dropped instantly and then ran to the toilet.

Something along those lines anyway.
