Comments Thread For: Montiel Still Plans 10/30 Return, Says Darchinyan Ran

WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel is still planning to fight on October 30 in Cartagena, Colombia as part of the WBO's annual convention. He was going to face mandatory challenger Eric Morel. Sooner than the fight would be set, Morel vacated his WBO interim title, withdrew from the fight and signed a promotional agreement with Golden Boy Promotions.

Can Montiel stop fighting top P4P opposition so often? He keeps this up and he'll be FOTY oh no! Donaires b*tch ass don't want none. While Donaire fights tomato cans, The three fighters Kochulito has faced this year are already better than anything on Donaires resume

Montiel should have been in the tournament.

Instead of calling out Donaire and Darchinyan 2 guys have done very little at bantamweight.

He should give Moreno an offer to prove who is the best bantamweight once and for all.

Bad move by Vic, he's going to come out of the tournament badly. Hes going to get less money and is going to be beaten by Mares.

Montiel didn't enter the tournament for the same reason Donaire didn't enter the tournament. It's a bad economical move. Im pretty sure he would get a lot more money with one fight on PPV rather than a tournament.

Meh....you know why Arum didn't let him join that tournament, He can make more money out of the tournament and doesn't have to be tied down with any fight dates at all. Eric Morel don't want none and neither does donaire...I agree he should face off against Moreno and move up in weight to try to get a 4th divisional title.

Business wise is a bad move. But, fuck that we boxing fans we shouldn't care about that.

For boxing fans the best thing to do was enter the tournament. 3 top elite bantamweight did. And, Vic not a bantamweight elite but has name entered it.

too bad 2 other elite bantamweights didn't enter. That to me is a bad move not what Vic is doing. As a boxing fan that is.

Morel didn't want any and Donaire it is always a head scratcher. But, Hasegawa wanted a rematch could have done that. Hasegawa is still better than Morel or Vic.

And, yea Moreno is the best possible opponent. Not only Montiel but Moreno also should be wanting to fight each other. Just to see who is the best.

I would say this about Montiel.

He has been very active this year. Montiel has behaved as a true champ and a throwback fighter.

He is the candidate IMO for FOTY.
