What happened to Ortiz against Maidana, good or bad thing?

What happened to Ortiz against Maidana, good or bad thing?

I can see a few different knock on effects from that loss, positive and negative.

One negative being that he is Mexican/American, reason i say that is because of the machismo those fans expect their fighters to show, now with Ortiz having been perceived to of quit in a fight, might he, in the future, get himself into trouble trying to be too too aggressive as he tries erase the memory of what happened in the Maidana fight? cause whether the criticisms of him have simmered somewhat, it will always be there imo, that question will brought up in most of the previews/interviews he does until his career is over.

Another negative could be, that there have been rumours circulating that Ortiz does not take the best punch, now he was down or hurt against Dairo Esalas from what i remember, and down against Maidana, admittedly a big puncher, but its that whole thing about when the cat is out the bag, regarding whether you have a questionable chin, fights can become more difficult cause the opponent has one thing in mind, to test your chin, of coarse that is as dangerous for them to but.......

Positive being, he has come to terms with the violence, punishment that goes with the territory and is prepared to take it, but still be smart and ready to handle a fight as intense as the Maidana fight was, not to play to the crowd to.

Little of both, Ortiz has admitted that the loss has made him a better fighter but if he had won he would have the interem belt soo a lttle bit of both.

If you have a strong personal constitution its a great thing.

I view that as his Corrie Sanders moment and if he sticks with it and keeps believing in his ability while taking the right lesson from the Maidana fight it will only make him stronger like it has Wlad since that fight.

I think its an invaluable thing to lose like that sometimes.

If however, you're weak to start with, it could possibly end you.

Ortiz will be the best fighter at 140.

He can beat Maidana, Khan, and Alexander. Bradley has the most experience, and is the better boxer right now....so I'll take Bradley via Headbutt.

it's a good thing that Maidana beat Ortiz...that "vicious" moniker would've been his downfall anyway. He has to be a little sneakier about it...so that the power and aggression surprises his opponents after he's worn them down with some clever boxing.

Good thing for Maidana, bad thing for Ortiz.

coming out of that fight i think one of his main goals was to not put himself in that type of situation again.
to me its pretty obvious he's a better fighter becuz of that bout.
he doesnt have to be that blood and guts warrior to maximize his abilities.
hes already the most physically talented fighter at 140, so his natural ability just wont go away. the power will always be there, now he's more skillfully learning to utilize it.

his whole deal since the maidana fight is being a smarter fighter. i think he was a bit over the top with that during the campbell fight, but i think if he's put into a similar situation he'll try to be smarter about and box/survive his way out of trouble as opposed to gritting his teeth and trying to power his way out of it.

its like the exact opposite thing that happened to sugar shane who gravitated more towards a more brutal style, more blood and guts....and ended up abandoning his skills.

There was a short web documentary someone posted here once about Victor Ortiz that was filmed long before the Maidana fight.

It mentioned that when Ortiz was in the amateurs and lost and didn't make it to the Olympic team he wanted to quit boxing and had to be talked back into it. So the Maidana situation wasn't the first time he wanted to cut and run when things didn't go his way. It seems to be in his nature.

                    I agree with that.

I was thinking of more of a close tough fight.

That's gonna happen. We'll see if he has what it takes to compete at the elite levels of the game.

He should avoid fighting in a shoot out style against a brawler.(Fighting smarter)
