Maidana has a king sized heart, but to compare the punishment he took with the punishment Ortiz was taking at the end is ridiculous. Ortiz was simply being beaten up by then, and had nothing left. If he hadn't quit, the ref should have stopped it.

He certainly should have stopped it. Ortiz clearly had nothing left and could no longer defend himself. It is the ref's job to stop a fight when that happens.

If the fight had gone on and if, as a result, Ortiz had never been the same fighter again, like David Reid or Davey Moore, it might have satisfied a few keyboard warriors, but it would have been bad for boxing and disastrous for Ortiz's whole life as well as his career.

Because Kotelnik was robbed and deserves a rematch?

Because Devon should prove that he is capable of beating Kotelnik without a gift decision?

I could be wrong but I got the impression in the past that Ortiz is perhaps a bit too demanding in negotiations. For example apparently not offering Maidana much for a rematch. I hope he doesn't expect 60% to face Devon, IMO he deserves 40% at most.
How do you suppose that Devon Alexander could command a 60% share against Ortiz?!? Ortiz, especially after tonight's performance, is INFINITELY more marketable than Alexander ever could be. He's a hot, new, young champion fighting for one of the biggest promotional companies in the sport in the most high-profile division with a massive potential fan base, etc., etc,,. What does Devon bring to the table???? Be serious, Devon would be luckly to get 30%.
