from the stats given, are you trying to say that jabs can not be considered in any way as power punches?

Besides its scored round by round not total stats.
Okay, I'll stop beating around the bush. The thread is in relation to these scores: 115-113, 116-113, 115-113

      Given to this fight:

      Compubox numbers link

I know compubox doesn't win fights, but I was one of the people who scored this fight for the loser, while everyone else was saying it was a clear win for the man who won.

I honestly believe that the fight was very close and the guy with the bigger fan base won. That's why the judges and the general public scored it a "clear win"... I didn't see anything clear about it and it was a draw at very least.

        I have always said

        Clottey defeated Cotto

        Mosley defeated Cotto

the thing is his fans just ignore it, all they care is that their guy won which is fair enough

I just cant do that though, punch stats can be very misleading. There is so much more involved in a fight like who has control of a round etc. I mean what if one guy threw 100 punches in one round and threw 10 in the next round? you can't know any of that by looking at the overall stats.

I mean there are cases where fighter A threw more punches and landed more punches and had a higher connect rate but still got his ass beat by fighter B because fighter B is a harder puncher and a counter puncher.

Maybe if you broke down punch stats round per round it might be a litter more telling.

How many times have you watched this fight?

I've watched it about 5-6 times.

When I watched it live, I thought and felt it was extremely close. I scored it a draw. I had the feeling that it was a toss up and either guy could have won it.

However, each time I watched it after, it became more and more apparent to me that cotto clearly won by a 2-3 rounds.

This fight is one of the main reasons why I always try to watch "close" fights multiple times.

When you're watching a fight live there are a lot of emotions and its very intense it's easy to get caught in the moment and be swayed one way or another, you can miss a lot of the fine details etc.
